It used to be an excellent dessert shop. They have changed the quality, more sugar, less quality and the prices are not indicated. You end up with 30 dollars for 6 cookies if you do not ask the price before paying. They were also less fresh than the past. For me, it is the last time.

My favourite bakery tragically closed down so I’m on the hunt for a new birthday cake source. I’ve been keen on trying Rustique for a while now, so I was pretty excited. I ordered a number of things for delivery for my partner’s birthday.
Delivery was right on time. The cakes are beautiful, visually speaking. But they’re lacking in both flavour and texture, and I’d rather a tasty cake than a beautiful one.
The carrot cake is moist, but it seems like a base recipe for ‘cake’ was used, and carrots were added. That is to say, it seems to be lacking a certain something that really makes it carrot cake and not just cake with carrots. Some depth of flavour that I’ve found in some of my favourite carrot cakes in the city. This was a disappointment, as carrot cake is my favourite! It’s a good cake, but not a good carrot cake. The icing is also very bland.
The chocolate ganache cake was surprisingly not good. I tried this one second, and figured that it should work better with a more basic cake recipe, but it ended up being very dry. The icing is quite hard, and while I really loved the look of the crumble on top, I found that it tasted stale. Unfortunately my partner felt the same, and neither of us wanted to eat the cake.
I suppose I wish they’d push the envelope a bit more, maybe with the employment of brown butter, or cocoa butter, or almond flour… something to round it out a bit. Maybe a more basic cake appeals to a wider range of palates? But I found the taste of sugar and nothing else a let down.
As an aside, my order was also incorrect. I paid for extras that I did not receive, and in general I’m pretty unhappy. $120 with delivery, and neither of the cakes are any different from something from a grocery store. Unfortunately I don’t believe I’ll be returning, but if I did, I think I would try one of the pies instead. ??

We ordered two large carrot cakes for our wedding, and what can we say...it was simply delicious! Judith was wonderful, the presentation of the cakes were superb, and the price very reasonable. We wanted something light and different, and the carrot cake turned out to be a great choice, according to our guests. It’s also my favorite cake, and I plan to recommend it!

Have been a few times before but most notably recently ordered a birthday cake for my partner. Incredibly friendly and helpful customer service, accommodating delivery, and my god was the cake delicious! Everyone loved it, it helped make the day special. Would sincerely recommend.
I ordered a medium Chocolate Ganache cake for my Birthday.I have to say the entire party was very disappointed. It was crumbling apart. Thankfully wasn’t too sweet but was very dry and sad to say the least.Wish I could be writing a better review but for 80$ plus 19$ delivery fee so that’s almost 100$ for a BASIC dry cake… just doesn’t cut it in Montreal.
