Tasty malagasy restaurant with variety of choices on menu. Tried the beef ravitoto which came with three tiny sides (achard, mango and tomato salads).

First time trying Malagasy cuisine and the sambosa sauces blew me away—tangy, spicy, and full of character. The house chili sauce tasted just like an authentic Burundian hot sauce—fantastic. The mint-lemon sorbet was also a winner: super refreshing and beautifully served.

On the downside, the interior feels worn, pancakes were bland, potatoes a bit burnt, and the beef curry leaned more tomato-sauce than a well-spiced stew (though the spice blend gave the meat a distinct gaminess).

Still, the flavors in the sauces and sorbet make it worth the visit.

They have big portions. I got the gluoton and my bf got the egg platter (forgot the name). Every element of the dish was well made, even the salad! Their house made chili sauce also added a nice kick to the food. For drinks we got the chai latte and the chocolate baileys coffee. Both were really good. Would come back when we’re back in Montreal

Tried the lemon sorbet dessert which was supposed to be done in the same style as in Italy, served inside a lemon. The sorbet was green instead of white as though it had been blended with too much mint and it didn’t have a good balance between the sugar and lemon in the sorbet. For $11 I would have expected much better. If you do go, skip this dessert.

Such a hidden gem… such a great taste experience. A small menu, but everything was so good and tasty. I highly recommend it for a Malagasy taste adventure!!

Monday brunch dreams at Tsak-Tsak Beaubien 💫
Ginger-braised pork ribs, perfectly poached eggs, house-made nut bread, crispy potatoes, and a fresh salad — bold, comforting, and exactly what you didn’t know you needed on a weekday. 😊

Always a pleasure to stop by Tsak-Tsak on Beaubien every time I go to Montreal! It's unmissable. It's a little gem of a restaurant and a well-kept secret. It's fresh, local, homemade and above all made with love and so authentic. For lunch, the buckwheat crepe with pulled pork is delectable! For the rest, it’s up to you to discover!

As for music, most of the times I went there, it was quality jazz, cool jazz, bebop, vintage jazz, folk, popular Quebecois and other fairly varied and quality music. Only small downside, music a little too loud for a Sunday morning!? But that's a detail and a little wink and it works out very well.
