Our experience was, unfortunately, disappointing. We were a table of three on a Saturday night, and the overall atmosphere was overwhelmingly loud. The music was excessively loud, leading guests and staff to shout just to hold a conversation. On top of that, the open kitchen contributed a lot of additional noise. Staff didn't seem trained to minimize the noise, and no measures appeared to be in place to reduce sound. I’ve been to open kitchens where the cooks work quietly and efficiently, this wasn’t one of them.
We were seated directly across from the restrooms, which was not ideal. Guests often left the doors open, though I have to give credit to the waiters who diligently closed them each time they walked by. Still, it wasn’t a pleasant or comfortable spot to dine.
As for the food, it was overall good but didn't leave a lasting impression. A special mention goes to the quality of the meat for the Onglet de Boeuf and the lemon curd for dessert but on the other hand, the crème brûlée was a complete miss and the aspargus appetizer quite bland.
Toward the end of the evening, four different staff members came by to ask if we were finished with dessert. It came across as pushy and gave us the impression that we were being rushed out, despite the restaurant still being busy and nearby tables just receiving their main courses
On a positive note, the wine recommendation was excellent.
Unfortunately, I don’t plan to return and wouldn’t recommend it to others, but I hope this feedback can contribute to improving the overall guest experience.
Incredible food and amazing staff
App and main were good, but the dessert was too sweet. Service was decent. It's a very small yet busy restaurant, so the space is limited and a bit noisy. They still calculated tips after taxes in the mid of May.
Amazing food and vibe. Get the fried shrooms, salad, beef tartare, and steak+fries I would like to thank Jonathan, Luis, and Robyn for the excellent service. We were welcomed with friendliness the moment we stepped in the establishment!
The problem is as soon as u walk in - you are told to stay in the long lobby so horrible of an attitude. Then they come every 5 minutes to
Interrupt and ask if the food is good ? they pour water every 4 minutes - too many staff people having nothing to
Do. You feel super rushed - not a nice feeling - not going back. Let people dine in peace - don’t ask if it’s good ? Is it good ? just leave us in our conversations.
The food was spot on! We enjoyed every dish. Our waiter Louis was friendly, engaging while staying professional. I really liked that whenever a waiter walked by our table he/she would pick up a or fill our water glasses
This attention goes a long way!
Bye, Tuck, back to New York!
We were on the patio and could not have had a better experience. We ordered almost the whole menu to eat family style and there was not a drop of sauce left on a plate. Each dish was better than the last. The cocktails were great and the wine menu was easy to navigate with the help of our waiter, Gabriel. He was the perfect level of attentive and made an already five star experience into a ten star one.
Gabrielle was the best! The atmosphere was amazing and the staff and food was a class above! If you are lucky enough to find this place…make your way over.
Gabrielle was the best server! Amazing food! What a phenomenal meal. So worth it!!
My favorite restaurant in Montreal. Wonderful food, amazing staff and an modest chef/owner spending most of his nights shucking oysters. High end food in a casual atmosphere. Truly a treasure! Oh, and an honourable mention to the desserts made by the chef/owner's mom.
The only thing negative I have to say about this place is that it has become very loud. The music could be turned down significantly, Which would make conversation easier.
I never understood why this restaurant doesn't get mentioned more on top Montreal restaurant lists.

A class act from start to finish.
Chatged us $1k for 4, gave us 2 hours to eat before asking to leave as they had another table. If i have to pay that much for a meal, don’t push me out please. Great food, but stop trying to squeeze it like its mcdonald.
Great food, great service, incredible snow crab. Such a lovely place.
Tuck Shop is an absolute must-visit if you’re in town. Everything — from the food to the service to the atmosphere — is outstanding. The staff are some of the friendliest and kindest I’ve ever encountered, with incredibly fast and attentive service. The food was delicious across the board, with highlights including the seasonal king crab, the octopus, their classic steak frites, and the chocolate dessert. I cannot recommend Tuck Shop enough and will definitely be coming back.
Recently booked a table at Tuck Shop, and from start to finish, everything was spot on. From the moment we walked in the door, we were immediately taken care of.
The service was outstanding. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. They were genuinely excited to share their knowledge about the food and drinks, which made the experience even better.
The wine list is great, and the staff really knows their stuff. We got an awesome recommendation for a bottle that paired perfectly with our meal.
As for the food — we expected it to be so, but it was incredible. We sat at the chef's counter, and it was great to watch the chefs work their magic. Each dish was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented.
The menu changes every month based on what’s in season, so you know everything is always fresh and well thought out.
All in all, Tuck Shop is a St. Henri and Montreal gem. Great food, excellent service, and a cool atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!
