My wife and I are in Montreal as part of a recreation of our honeymoon 40 years ago (Nova Scotia, Montreal, Quebec).
We wanted one more upscale meal while in Montreal and Vieux Port Steakhouse did not disappoint.
We were welcomed at the host stand and offered a table outside with a great “people watching” view of Rue Saint Paul. We were then greeted by Elise who brought us our water and bread (delicious) before our server Elias came to introduce himself. All...read full review
Our son wanted to try steak for his 13th birthday while we were in Montreal. Vieux Port Steakhouse was an excellent choice. Expertly prepared steak and lobster, with good vegetarian options as well. Our waiter was charming and attentive. Our son's decadent birthday dessert was complimentary. We would definitely eat here again and highly recommend.

The Vieux-Port Steakhouse offers a lively and welcoming atmosphere, featuring a center bar ideal for impromptu watch parties and a lovely garden patio that welcomes four-legged companions. The menu includes delectable brunch options and a rich lobster bisque, often noted for being full of lobster, though sometimes served lukewarm. Guests have praised the bone-in rib steak as amazing, while the filet mignon is described as incredibly juicy and tender, showcasing the quality of the aged meat. The Steak Frites with shrimp addition remains very good, and the bavette is noted for being tender, juicy, and cooked to order. The fries are crispy but it’s recommended to ask for salt. A non-alcoholic mojito with mango is also available, though it may be a bit astringent. The restaurant may experience long waits, particularly during busy times like holidays, due to large parties upstairs. The attentive and knowledgeable staff ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. The atmosphere is casual yet beautiful, with a warm setting that is perfect for a relaxed dinner. The food, including the best-prepared steak, is incredible, and the overall experience leaves a memorable impression. Located in the heart of Old Montreal, this gem is highly recommended for both casual meals and special celebrations, making it a must-try for tourists seeking to taste one of the best offerings the city has.
