Restaurant Normandin Hamel

Rather disappointing experience. More than 20 minutes passed before we had a coffee while everyone who arrived after us had them first. I order 2 banana and chocolate crepes and normally the crepes are thin and crispy but here they were literally swimming in a pool of chocolate. The pancakes are soft and soggy. I politely inform the waitress and she offers to put them in a box to take away. Eh????? What is this answer? Instead, I ask her if she can bring me 2 pancakes and put the chocolate on the side. During this time, the person had had time to finish their meal. I'm finally no longer hungry and sick to my stomach!

In the middle of a power outage, I was able to charge my car and charge my phone. Along with amazing service and great food.

Horrible experience! Barely arriving at 8:44 p.m. (i.e. 1 hour and 16 before closing), the waitress didn't really know if she should welcome us in the dining room or not...Finally, she decided not because there was a lack of staff! A member of staff explains to me that there is another Normandin restaurant not far away that could accommodate us...Not great at all! The same waitress tries to introduce me to the specials....except that she didn't know the promotions...and even the products offered elsewhere...3 to 5 pizzas for $25 each...not sure everything, it was... My choice falls on 3 non-spicy BBQ chicken pizzas, 3 family fries and 3 large 2 liter liqueurs... I sit in the next room while waiting for my turn...A my surprise, there was not a waitress but good 4 or 5 always there to serve customers...More to chat
than actually serving customers...My order arrives and I leave....Other surprises in bad taste when I return to the hotel right next door...The pizzas are spicy, poorly cooked and uncut, the fries soft and especially cold...

We're visiting from out of town and were not really impressed with our experience.

Hostess was friendly and we were seated quickly, she also brought us our coffees. Our waitress was nice but very slow. I'm not sure if it's from a lack of experience or tiredness or she's been a waitress for way too long but it definitely wasn't from the amount of tables she was serving or the lack of staff (I've worked in restaurants before). Everything seemed to take forever - from getting the milk for our coffees, getting our water (which she only brought one glass of water for my husband), or even entering our order in the system (we saw our waitress kind of wandering around the restaurant until she finally went to the computer to punch in the order).

Then there's the food. I'm not a big eater so I ordered the ragout des boulettes thinking it would be enough. The portion was really really small, I was starving afterwards. I mean, small as in almost Parisian style and it's not like it's a Parisian restaurant. My husband ordered the club sandwich and it just completely fell apart as he was eating it (and trust me, he's had his fair share of club sandwiches, he knows how to eat them). There was no tomato in the sandwich and the portion of fries was really small too.

We're here for the next couple of days and were planning on going back for breakfast in the morning but after today's lunch, we'll try another place.

My mother had reservations for a group of 16 people for lunch last Sunday. She had called to book several days in advance and called back to confirm. When she arrived on Sunday, she was told that there was no reservation in her name and that Normandin did not take reservations on Sunday morning?! 12 other people were coming… It’s stressful.
They finally made room for us and a waitress rolled her eyes and said: well we have a group... we really don't feel welcome even though we were customers who had reserved...
In the end, the other waitress who served us was nice, even if the service was slow. And the food was okay.
But unfortunately because of the poor welcome, we will not return there as a family even though we were regulars.

Yum yum, I was a fan of this restaurant when I lived in Quebec and I still love it as much as I remember. I will definitely return, friendly and smiling staff, very good service!!

Lack of staff during busy periods.

During our last visit, my partner asked the waitress if she could remove the onions from the sandwich. The waitress told him they can't because the sandwich arrives vacuum sealed and they reheat it before serving it to the customer. Wow sous vide.... we will return to have a fresh meal.

I'm on my sixth visit this year and Jacques + his team are wonderful. Impeccable, courteous service and a smile... Wow!!!! 🤩
