I didn’t like how overpriced it’s! The taste was not bad but the service was below expectations and staff were clearly overworked. I hope who ever manages this place get busy because there is a lot of improvement to be done.
I was really disappointed with this cafe. The staff seemed uninterested and it took forever to get anyone’s attention. And when i asked the staff a question in English they seemed uninterested and disrespectful to me. Definitely won’t be coming back
I waited in line for 15 minutes to get an ice cream, only to be told at the counter that I first needed to line up at a completely different spot—the coffee sales point—to place and pay for my order. Then I had to return to the original line with the receipt to finally receive the ice cream. This process very confusing, especially with kids eagerly waiting and not understanding the delay. The lack of clear communication and customer consideration made the whole experience frustrating and unnecessarily complicated. Disappointed.
Dufferin sandwich was savoury and sweet, delicious! Staff was very friendly. Very quiet, ate on the top of the kiosk.
Had a lunch here while walking by the chateau. The sandwich I had was ok, ham and cheese on about 6” of baguette. Had the option of warming it, and should have done that. Nothing remarkable, but worked in a pinch. The strawberry lemonade was quite good.
We had two lemonades, which were very good. The server was friendly.

Fast and efficient service, the sandwiches are good, and the shop is very well located, directly on the Dufferin terrace
An amazing muffin, nice people would be a regular stop if I lived nearby !

Long lines, but fast service!! The soft serve is so creamy and not too rich in flavour.

I would 1000% recommend going to 1884 to grab a bite to eat - and while you are there be sure to thank the owner Jeff for us!!
We recently visited Quebec on a family vacation and were taking a tour the final morning. It was incredibly hot and humid and our 12 year old daughter Serafina passed out from heat stroke right in front of 1884. It was terrifying to say the least.
The 1884 owner, Jeff, immediately jumped into action. He explained that he was a paramedic and proceeded to take care of our daughter without hesitation, informing us each step of the way what was happening. He opened the cafe to us as a place for her to recover and didn’t leave our side until she was safe in our car- his generosity, kindness, quick thinking, and commitment to her health was one of the greatest acts of kindness I’ve experienced. Thank you, Jeff! And to everyone else - make sure you stop by, grab a bite, and thank him for us!
