L'Ascenseur, also known as Ascenseur du Faubourg, is a notable example of public Art Deco architecture. It was designed to hold two elevator shafts, but only one was operational, able to transport 16 people and travel 300 feet per minute. The elevator's round trip takes only one minute. The service is excellent, with courteous and smiling staff. It offers good coffee and French pastries. However, it could have extended opening hours to accommodate people with reduced mobility. Being the only elevator connecting the upper town, it holds great importance.
