Dumplings & Braised Meat 老妈卤味 is a small, cute little shop with amazing prices, great for students. When you first walk in, you’ll be hit with an amazing aroma. The restaurant is very clean, with a nice welcoming lady at the front who provides warm and friendly service, even helping customers choose food they will like.

The food is excellent. The chicken coriander dumplings are the best dumpling ever tried in Montreal, with skin that is not too thick and full of juice. The beef, onions and cheese dumplings are so juicy they squirt everywhere, with a cheese flavour that isn’t strong. The braised beef noodles have amazing thick noodles, almost like udon but chewier, while the braised sauce noodles are made with a thin, super bouncy and chewy ramen-like noodle. The two signature noodle soups are good, priced just right, and the soup is full size and more than enough. The no spicy noodle soup is also good. Other food on the menu looks delicious as well.

However, some side dishes are a little bit pricey for what you get, tasting pretty good but not great, as they are prepackaged, vacuum packed, and reheated. Go try the soup noodles for lunch or dinner; the rest of the side dishes are still good and quite authentic, but you are better off buying them and reheating at home.
