love it! great cocktails and fantastic food! the shrimp wrapped in bacon is phenomenal, as is the pot roast, fish and Korean tavos. my husband adores the prime rib and bruschetta. great service!

We had high hopes for the Wilcox when it reopened, but after trying it more than a few times, they have not addressed their issues. Lack of an interesting menu and slow if not poor service, with little satisfaction if brought to the attention of the proprietor.

They are charging water front view prices for a zero view place that smells like my grandmothers closet.

First of all, 4 stars for the food. Issues centered on presentation and follow through. I asked for no gravy, dinner was covered, and since the meal was stacked on top of each other, the included the entire dinner. Also, my husband and I do not like everything piled on top of whatever is on the bottom. For me it was 3/4 stuffing and little potato. For him it was the opposite. The mashed squash was about eight 1-2 in chunks. The pumpkin pie was so hot I burned my tongue. Hot pumpkin pie?? When I told the server she said that she did not know what happened and did not remove the pie from the bill. Soup and/or dessert was not include with Turkey dinner. Also, although I asked if the meat was all white, and was told yes, my husbands' was mostly dark meat. I am not sure if the waitstaff were regulars or just filling in for the day. Oh, my Manhattan was not drinkable.

Where else can you sit by a warm fire, sip fine wine and enjoy a romantic night with an amazing meal? Nothing else compares.

We ordered a steak and fish dinner after a half hour they told us they ran out of both options! Like 30 min later!! That’s crazy. We asked for ginger ale and got tonic water. The service was terrible and for the money your better off going to Spain’s in Narragansett! My parents went and also had a bad experience so no luck going back to this place as locals of Charlestown.

Following the signs from the large parking lot to the tavern was an interesting entrance experience to a rather charming, rustic environment. The bartender was most congenial but interestingly hadn't mentioned on the phone when I called, that there was only one working fireplace in a small room off the bar with gas instead of real firewood. (perhaps codes were in order?) Our drinks were very good and the service continued to be attentive and friendly with appetizer portions which were small but fresh and nice. The seafood bisque was tasty but had shredded pieces of different fish and no actual chunks of what was advertised on the menu. We liked their eclectic selections, and opted for the 1730 menu with meatloaf and Chicken Marsala as our choices. We were beginning to consider making Thanksgiving reservations and shared our feelings with our waitress. However, the tides turned immediately with our terribly disappointing tasteless entrées. The vegetables were hard, briefly broiled, shriveled and bland. One could barely decipher the mushrooms, gravy or Marsala one would expect on a typical dish. When I asked for more gravy, I was told the chef would "whip" some up, and after about a 10 minute wait, a tiny dish with about 2 tablespoons of "au jus" was delivered. I was too shocked to even think about asking to speak with the owner or chef, but relayed my extreme disappointment to our waitress. The meatloaf was like a dried hamburger . . . totally flavorless. It was an unhappy and embarrassing experience . . . one for which we were charged full price . . . probably because we were eating out of politeness, rather than sending our dinners back after one bite. I hesitated to post a review, because the negative ones I've read received a very blasé response. I'd suggest the Chef, Owner and Manager all try the Chicken Marsala at Vetrano's in Westerly for the real mccoy . . . meanwhile, please remove it from your special! We left with a feeling the chef was very inexperienced, and would have enjoying speaking with him and the owner if they'd been open to receiving our feedback.

I’ve tried it twice both times very disappointing! I even politely expressed my disappointment this time with the owner and waitress about our terrible meals but still no remorse. This is why they get bad reviews they need to pay the price for an experienced chief. It’s sad the atmosphere is great and the food is gross. To stay in business one would think the locals should be listened to and their opinions should mater.

We ate here in the fall of 18 and loved the daily specials, Turkey dinner for $18 was great, hope they continue. Went for prime rib on Friday evening at 5:45 and were seated in the big dining room, like the quaint one on the right better, but no choice. Waitress was fine and hooray, cloth napkin, no tablecloths, but glass water goblets.Things are getting better. We each had prime rib, however , were not served any bread before hand and no choice of veg or starch. I think daily vegs and starches should be offered. The carrots were definitely from the Inns Pot roast offering mixed with broccoli and cauliflower, as the carrots were kind of charred. Potatoes would be great to have a choice baked or mashed. Guess it takes time to get it all correct, but it is starting to get better, food is good, just need to have a better selection. Maybe get rid of the deviled egg special and have a vegetable special. Looking forward to daily fall offerings.

Excellent atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff, varied food and drink menu. My biggest complaint would be that, while the food is pretty good, it isn't extraordinary, and prices therefore seem very steep.

It was a lovely atmosphere except for the door to kitchen slamming numerous times.
