We went to an event nearby to have lunch but decided to stop here instead. We are so happy we did! Great service from a welcoming staff. We ordered beef tacos and the chicken taco bowl. The food was fresh and delicious. Not spicy and served with mild or hot sauce on the side for you to add. The atmosphere is comfortable, bright and welcoming. We can't wait to come back. The food and service turned out road trip into a happy afternoon.

So this is the first California Taco Shop I’ve had to write a not so good review about. We came in July 24 @4:56pm. My review is not about the food, but about the service my mom and I received.

As a born & raised San Diegan trapped in Connecticut, I’m a snob when it comes to Mexican food. I happened to be in Johnston on business when I noticed California Taco Shop. Of course I turned my nose up & said “ha! That’s funny.” But like anybody on their high horse, I had to try it. I got the California burrito, 5 rolled tacos, & a horchata. The horchata was SPOT ON!
