“Hometown Pizza & Subs was a really good stop. I had three wieners and a slice of pizza, and everything came out hot, fresh, and at the same time, which I appreciated.

The pizza was especially good. Hot and fresh without being greasy, with that classic neighborhood pizza-shop feel. I also loved the little old-school touches, like the paper-towel-style napkins and the pizza served on a foil-lined tray. Nothing fancy, just classic, and it works.
The wieners were good too. The staff was very kind and patient, and I ate inside in one of the booths. The whole place had a relaxed, chill atmosphere with good music playing in the background.

I honestly don't have anything bad to say about the place. Would I come back? Absolutely. Good food, friendly people, reasonable prices, and the kind of old-school local atmosphere that's getting harder to find.”

“Went there with my son for the 1st time and we shared a chicken parm. The portion was just right!! I wish I took a picture of the food because the presentation of the chicken parm looked good. It also came with a salad that was very fresh and crisp. I appreciate that!! The chicken parm was crispy, and tender. The staff was extremely welcoming. The sauce on the parm was delicious. I have no complaints on this place. We will definitely be back because I would love to try the vodka parm, the pesto parm and the eggplant rollatini. My son loved the chicken parm too. I’m glad they opened there!! Keep it up. Ohh yes and I can’t forget to mention how clean the place looked, even the kitchen!!!”

Obviously a local favorite, this smallish cafe is quite busy but there was no wait when I arrived at 11am on a Thursday. Breakfast menu is traditional: omelets, Benedicts, pancakes, waffles and breakfast sandwiches. I ordered the Hungry Man with eggs, ham, potatoes, toast and pancakes. Plenty to take home for tomorrow. Service was quick, perhaps a bit too quick as the eggs, ordered over easy, were slightly underdone. There was a large slice of tasty ham and 2 large pancakes. Overall a good meal at a good price.”

“Shoutout to Latte Love Coffee House in Cranston on Comstock Parkway. I stopped in today for a professional meeting and had a great experience. It was easy to get to, not far off the highway, and parking was available, which made everything convenient right from the start. There was a healthy line when I arrived, which is always a good sign, but there was still plenty of seating. The atmosphere was quiet, clean, and comfortable, which made it a great setting for a good conversation and productive meeting. The coffee was good, the bathrooms were clean, and the whole place felt welcoming and well run. I always appreciate supporting local businesses that are doing things the right way and creating an environment where people can gather, connect, and enjoy a quality experience. “I stopped by the new Ricotti's location in Cranston after hearing they had moved from Johnston, and I'm glad I did.

The drive from my office was easy, and the location is convenient. I parked along the street before realizing there's additional parking behind the building. One small heads-up: there's a fire hydrant right out front, so just make sure you don't accidentally park in front of it.

Walking in, I was immediately greeted by the owner, who was incredibly welcoming. The restaurant was spotless and made a fantastic first impression.

I placed an order for four sandwiches and two hot wieners. The owner was working by himself, and within a few minutes several more customers came in behind me. Even with the sudden rush, he never made me feel like he was trying to hurry me through my order. Instead, he took the time to answer my questions, explain the menu, and point out that the starred items were customer favorites. Since it was my first visit, that was genuinely helpful.

I ordered the Italian Deluxe, and I watched him make each sandwich with care. Nothing was rushed or thrown together. Every sandwich looked like it was built with intention, carefully layered and wrapped twice in butcher paper to keep everything together. That kind of attention to detail is becoming rare. I'd much rather wait an extra 10 or 15 minutes for a sandwich made with pride than get something assembled in 90 seconds just to move the line.

Before heading back to the office, I tried the hot wieners in the car. They were excellent. I'm a big fan of New York System-style wieners, and these absolutely held their own. I'd comfortably put them somewhere in my top five to top ten. The only thing I noticed was a slightly stronger salty flavor than I'm used to. It may have been the celery salt, the seasoning blend, or maybe mine just needed a little more meat sauce. Either way, I'd order them again without hesitation.

Back at the office, I finally dug into the Italian Deluxe, and that's when I understood why Ricotti's has the reputation it does. The sandwich was outstanding. The only thing I'd change next time is asking for no pickles, but that's entirely on me because I'm just not a pickle person. They were thick-cut and looked homemade, so if you like pickles, you'll probably love them.

Honestly, the sandwich barely needed anything. My brain automatically wanted to reach for salt, pepper, and oregano because that's what years of Subway conditioned me to do, but after a few bites I realized it didn't need any of it. The ingredients spoke for themselves.

The three other people I ordered for all said the same thing: the sandwiches were exactly how they remembered them, and nobody had a single complaint.

Great food, a spotless restaurant, an owner who clearly takes pride in his work, and sandwiches that are made with care instead of speed. That's the kind of local business I want to support, and I'll definitely be back.”

“9/2/25— I was on the hunt for tamales, so I drove here. Sadly, they only sell tamales on weekends. Instead, I bought some bread and a few other things. I found out that once the weather cools, they will start making atol de elote. I remember seeing this store when it first opened and have watched it grow little by little. I really like their bread—it’s always fresh. I recommend this place!”

“As a born & raised San Diegan trapped in Connecticut, I’m a snob when it comes to Mexican food. I happened to be in Johnston on business when I noticed California Taco Shop. Of course I turned my nose up & said “ha! That’s funny.” But like anybody on their high horse, I had to try it. I got the California burrito, 5 rolled tacos, & a horchata. The horchata was SPOT ON! I thought I was back home for a minute & not in Rhode Island. The California burrito was quite good, & quite stuffed. But not just with filler. With FLAVOR! The rolled tacos were a little shorter than back home, but the flavor more than made up for it (& again, just comparing it to what I grew up on I dug the decor & the music in the background. Reminded me of weekends at the National City Swap Meet. It’s about an hour-fifty from my house, but I’ll be back!”

From the atmosphere to the friendly, attentive staff and the delicious cuisine, this place has it going on. The scallion pancake was phenomenal!! Everything was and tasted so fresh, even the fried foods, no taste of old or stale grease. Our whole meal was wonderful. The Scorpion Bowl for 2 was as tasty as it was STRONG!! January 14, 2024 we ordered a pizza that was undercooked with the toppings just falling off, burnt onion rings that melted the styrofoam container along with the container that had chicken tenders contaminating them. I tried to reach out that night via Facebook message but no one has even looked at it. Just tried sending a message through the contact button on the website. Let's see if I get a response from that”
