“Been coming here since their initial location in Greenville. Went to their new location and loved it. Definitely smaller, but loved the intimate setting. Especially when guests embrace the concept. It’s like you’re all experiencing dining together prompting conversation with strangers gathering for the common love of food. Love everything about this new place. “Location/decor/ambiance: the owners have tried to turn the spacious brick and beam interior of a former factory building into a ghetto-ish inner cityscape skateboard park using graffiti-style airbrush graphics, little skateboards that serve as bar chair seat backs, concrete floors painted with Providence manhole covers, etc. Visually, the effect is mixed. I “get” what the owners are trying for, but it isn’t for me an “attractive” dining decor. It looks much more like a dance club for young twenty-somethings. I quickly adjusted to the inner-city grunge decor, but what we couldn’t adjust to was the VERY loud rap/hip-hop music blaring out of some very robust speakers non-stop. Talking was difficult. Yes, I’m an older person, but I don’t begrudge anyone their musical sensibilities… provide its not full of “***** and “nigga” and roaring out at at least 90 decibels. Whatever they’re trying to be, they need to remember that they are l (at 10 am) a restaurant, not a dance club. Food & service: unexpectedly, given the above criticism, the food was outstanding, I mean really good. Caught us off guard. Just beautifully imagined and realized. Would I return? Probably not. Even the great food cant quite overcome the soundscape. Interesting place, though“

“The food and atmosphere during our latest visit to New Rivers were both excellent, as expected. It was the service that really stood out on this visit. When we arrived, the hostess kindly made sure we sat at the table she selected for us, rather than the bar as we requested, because she selected the best table in the restaurant for us. From there, our server struck the perfect tone. Warm, hospitable, discreet, and attentive, she made sure that we were able to keep the night about us, rather than her service. She seemed to anticipate our needs, never interrupting at an awkward moment or lingering too long. We enjoyed a leisurely, intimate meal gazing at the city's twinkling lights. The food was, as always, excellent, a wonderful expression of seasonal New England fare, presented artfully. My favorites were the pumpkin hummus with crunchy root vegetables, which a perfectly refreshing, sensual way to start the meal. The scallops were also great, presented with a knockout green sauce and some perfectly-cooked potatoes and green beans. Highly recommended - get a reservation, skip lunch, invite the best conversationalists you know and tuck in for a great meal.“

I’ve also had my whole office go out here one night and they were blown away. My friends from out of town told me that next time they come this is the first place we are going. “My husband and I went for the first time on Saturday and sat at the bar. We ordered apps and cocktails and of course oysters. Best oysters in RI by far believe it or not. Drinks were ok but food fabulous! Would have given 5 stars if not for the bartender. She focused solely on my husband the entire time even gave him a free drink. It was very obvious and blatant disrespect to me. My husband even commented on feeling uncomfortable. As a former bartender the general rule is to pay more attention to the wife than the husband out of respect but also because most often the wife is writing the tip. We will for sure be going back but will sit at a table and maybe only order sparkling water.“

They have a small food menu but it turned out surprisingly good! The fish bites were flaky and the chicken tenders and a great crunch to them. Great vibes.“

“This has been my husband and I’s go to place for the last few years. Over the last couple of months we have noticed a decline in portions. While we understand that prices are higher for food, you really shouldn’t bump down in quality, just raise the price if you need to. People may not noice a slight uptick in price but definitely notice the portion size. My husband always favors a whole belly clam and scallops plate and last night he was served that combo with only two whole bellies, the rest were just batter pieces and four scallops that were overcooked , it was so disappointing. My surf and turf was downsized from three baked stuffed shrimp down to two and the prime rib was much smaller. While we could have said something, it should have been noticed before it left the kitchen! We are not people to complain and the staff is always great but I guess my point is, we noticed and may think twice before returning and that saddens us.“
