Gem of a place, stumbled upon it on my visit to Newport. One of the best Thai food I’ve had in US. Skip other spots if looking for Thai/Vegetarian friendly food spots. Host is wonderful with recommendations and all the sauces are home made.

very delicious food, test the original thai cuisine
Authentic Thai food. Recommened to come.
Waitress was not attentive and English language was a challenge. The $36 duck dish was horrific. Dry as it gets. Waitress never checked on the quality of the food. Folks cooking in the back knew this was a bad plate. Was not edible. Stay away from this place.

Food was okay. Wait time was much longer than online estimate, but the employees were very busy and working very hard. Prices are a bit high (Crying Tiger for $40?!).

Disappointed by the Service at NaPha Thai Kitchen – A Difficult but Honest Review
I had high hopes for NaPha Thai Kitchen, but unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected.
It took over 15 minutes just to be seated, even though there were clearly multiple open tables. After finally being seated, I waited another 20 minutes before I was even acknowledged. The young lady working the front seemed overwhelmed, and while I understand that things can get busy, the lack of communication or basic courtesy—especially with so many open seats—was frustrating.
What truly bothered me, though, was what happened next. I hate to bring up racism in 2025, but unfortunately, it still exists. I watched as every table around me was greeted, checked on, and served attentively, while I was repeatedly passed over—even when eye contact was made. Not once was I impolite or gave any reason to be treated differently, so I truly don’t understand why I received the service I did.
The food itself was decent, but at the end of the day, a good meal can’t make up for poor treatment. For those who believe in respect for all people—I’d approach this place carefully. Maybe she was having a bad day, but from where I sat, it felt personal.
I won’t be spending my money here again.
