We were staying in a hotel on a bland suburban strip outside of Newport, but I needed a walk so I Googled “local bars near me still open” and Woody’s popped up. I walked from the hotel, nobody was walking anywhere that cold night, and after 20 minutes found myself at Woody’s. It’s a local dive bar, complete with a drunk guy playing pool, and just the vibe I was seeking. It’s cash only, but there’s an ATM on site. Joan was the bartender on duty and she was friendly and funny, welcoming but not fake - I grew up in New England, so this is familiar and appreciated. As she got ready to close up at 11:30p, I asked what else still was open. She suggested Rusty’s, another local bar where she worked and that was closing for good that weekend because of developers. I appreciated the advice and went on my way.

I love going there every other Saturday when carol Stewart Bar tends she makes it a good time with her bar bingo and we are all willing to wait for here to do her job of serving drinks as she says drinks come first then Keno then bingo love it and it's the only bar that does this every other Saturday a big thank you to Carol Stewart
