Thank you for setting the standards for what a restaurant should be. What a rare gem.

Audette was our third option, as all the fancy rooftop/waterfront restaurants were booked for the day. Boy, am I glad that it was our third and best choice — next time in town, it will be our first, by far. Despite having full house, they were adequately staffed and we got plenty of attention. Attention to detail was evident from the moment you set your foot into their door. Staff is well groomed and very classy. Wine choice for Reisling and Rose couldn’t be better. Details of the interior are neutral and yet elegant. The chairs are very comfortable and tables are good size to fit a small flower vase, a lamp and full set of silverware. Then come the dishes — each set of ceramics that landed on our table was eye candy so many restaurants lack. Appetizers and Entrees were smaller portions (for US standards), but they were so good that we literally said “wow”, making sure we leave space for next dish such great combination of taste, texture and presentation of all ingredients left us both impressed and so happy that we were turned down at the other two venues. Soufflé for dessert was the cherry on top of this cake.

The entire time, we felt cared for by every person who approached our table. We had 3 different people taking care of us (with many more behind scenes, I am sure) and we left feeling as if we are royalty.

Thank you. We will be back.

I've eaten here several times with my daughter and mom when it was Bouchards. Dan makes us feel special, especially my mom and daughter! He goes out of his way to serve the excellent food and wine. I don't mind how big the bill adds up as long as we can try everything on the menu.

The kind of place that you want to go in Newport. Probably only about 10 or 12 tables, but exquisite food, terrific wine, and a great ambience.

Audette was incredible. My wife, sister-in-law and I went last night July 3, for an 8:30pm reservation. It was packed in there but the service was impeccable. Ask for Daniel. He’ll make you feel at home and keep you laughing.

I had the seared tuna (exceptional), my wife had the Poulet En Croute (insanely good), and my sister-in-law had the Vegetarian Bouillabaise (also insanely good).

They will offer to put in a soufflé for you when you order your entrees since it takes a little while to make - do not pass this up, especially if you haven’t hard a proper soufflé before.

We will absolutely be back next time we visit Newport!

Audette is simply the best French food anywhere in the area. And service is extraordinarily attentive and engaged. Daniel was our waiter — he was enthusiastic and keenly aware of the attributes and preparation of each dish. Highly recommend and we will be back soon.

New owners and chef have freshened this space up. Now very chic, cool music and a beautiful bar, nice cocktail menu. Smartly curated, well priced wine list and a small but thorough menu. French classics but all have a bright, local in-season vegetable forward take. Nothing dripping in butter but elegantly subtle. We had foie gras, white asparagus, veal chop and poulet au pot. And an amaretto soufflé!

Audette is an outstanding reimagining of the Bouchard & Chanterelle continuum, retaining what you loved while introducing terrific new elements. As regular patrons of Bouchard & Chanterelle for the past 18 years we were eagerly anticipated seeing the changes Carmen and her team had made when we joined them for dinner this Saturday. We were thrilled to find that each of the changes enhances what has always been a memorable dining experience. The addition of a stylish bar at the front of the restaurant sets an inviting tone while perfectly balancing enlivening the overall vibe with the gracious elegance of Audette. The service, as typified by Dan, our Captain, and Ben, our server, remains the standard which other establishments should strive for - engaging, knowledgeable and always on point. Not surprisingly the menu offers a number of amazing dishes found nowhere else in Newport, to include several of new dishes, with masterfully prepared French classics holding pride of place. My perfectly prepared, presented and wonderful lamb shank presse serves as a prime example. But, my wife’s quenelles with halibut and a lobster infused brown butter sauce was a truly amazing. These entrees were preceded by delectable beef tartare, chicken liver tart and onion soup, the last with a baguette topped with, gruyere pommes aligot that is not to be missed. Dan expertly paired these dishes with a wonderful, and very approachable priced, Chateau Haut-Segottes Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. In fact, our only regret was not being able to try more of the many tempting dishes on the menu. We are greatly looking forward to our next visit and offer our congratulations to Carmen and her team for so artfully retaining the best of Bouchard & Chanterelle while bringing to life a fresh and lively vision for Audette. Well done!
