Worst attempt at Chinese food I've quite possibly ever had ..what a waste of money and a meal don't let the pictures on the internet fool you ...just call Cathay garden or Umi

Food was excellent, truly was "gourmet" chinese food. I found the wonton soup to be excellent and surprising spicy!

Unique perspective on modern Chinese take out would highly recommend the General Thames Chicken. Definitely ordering again.

I very much welcome a decent Chinese option in Newport, and they clearly are making a major effort and using quality ingredients. That said, there are a few things that need work: I like spicy food, but the spice level is way over the top, especially the overuse of chili oil. A more subtle use of spice would be welcome. Also the wonton soup base was way too full of soy sauce. I think if they're open to making tweaks, this could be a great option for the island

Wonton soup was so spicy, couldn't eat it. Chicken wings overcooked. Ribs were awful. Steamed wontons were ok.

Waited to try this and it did not disappoint. On line ordering was simple and easy the updates texted to us allowed us to plan the pick up with minimal effort. Ordered the Crab Rangoons and they were perfectly filled and seasoned. My main was the General Thames Chicken and I loved that is was freshly made - the chicken was perfect and tender- the sweet ginger and garlic soy sauce was a perfect complement- if anything I wanted more. The rice was cooked well and fluffy and delicious. My husband had the spicy beef and noodles and could not get enough of the fresh egg noodles! The steak was perfectly cooked and he said he would have had just that it was so well seasoned! With just enough spice it was a dish that he will be ordering it again. We also liked that it was a pop up inside of one of our favorite regular spots - Midtown. The diversity and options of two restaurants in one with great service and delicious food makes this a perfect fit in today's environment. Friday night date night at home with Green Dragon Chinese and a nice bottle of red may become a weekly event!

I was anxious to try this alternative to the typical and usually not all that good Chinese take out. The delay in getting your order seem to be a thing of the past. The food was hit or miss. The egg rolls were non-traditional and delicious, but a but large. It seems odd to critique a restaurant on serving too large a portion, but they were more difficult to eat than the traditional sized egg roll. The dipping sauce was excellent. The fired rice was some of the best I have had, four stars. Also tried the Spicy Beef and Noodles, and this was a major disappointment. The "Fresh Egg Noodles" looked and taste like spaghetti. It was vert al dente and difficult to eat. This dish should have a more traditional egg noodle or wide Chinese noodle. The beef was a but tough and there were no vegies, other than some sliced onion. The real problem was the sauce, which was not really a sauce but loads of sesame oil. The noodles were sitting in a large pool of oil. I did not feel the Spicy Beef and Noodles was a success and would never order it again. At $18 for an average size styrofoam tray dinner for one this was on the high side.

Ordered takeout at 4:30 PM on Friday for a 7:30 PM pickup. Waited outside the restaurant in the cold until 9:20 before I got our food, with no compensation and very little and poor communication other than frequent apologies. The food was good (soups and fried rice were great, since they were likely prepared ahead of time, but entrees seemed hastily thrown together to get orders out the door faster). Restaurant called at 8 PM saying pickups were running 30 min behind schedule - which was clearly not true, as it was another hour and 15 minutes from the time the order was placed. Lots of others had the same experience waiting outside - they really need to get a better handle on their ordering system.

I will start this out with I was very excited to try this food out. The concept is a great idea and the offerings are very interesting as well. On Friday I ordered One shrimp wonton soup, sticky chicken wings, seafood lo mein, and a general thames chicken. Put the order in around 6pm said it would be ready for pick up at 7:45pm. Total of the order came to just over $65. Show up to pick up my food at 7:45pm and there are loads of people hanging out outside of the Midtown Oyster Bar, where you go to pick up the food. I go in and speak with the hostess who said all the Green Dragon orders are running about 30 min behind and to wait outside they will be calling names as soon as the food is ready. I go and wait outside, mind you it is raining out. I start talking to some of the others waiting who were telling me that they has pick up times for 7pm and it was now almost 8pm and they were still waiting for their food. This is not looking good. I stand outside waiting till around 9:10pm when I see them bring some bags up to the host area, and I decided to take it upon myself to see if it is my bag since the host was nowhere to be found. One was mine so I took it and left. No offer for compensation or anything, not even a sorry your order took so long. From the time I ordered till the time I got my food was 3 hours and 10 minutes... and an 1 hour and 25 minutes of that time was spent waiting in the cold rain. Not cool. Now on to the food. The food itself was pretty good. Not a three hour wait good, but definitely better than your average Chinese food. We loved the shirmp wonton soup. The broth was amazing and had so much flavor to it. I could have had that on its own. Our other favorite was the General Thames Chicken. The flavor was great and definitely different than any other Chinese food I've had before. I will say they could be a little more generous with the side portion of rice they provide. It was very small for two people sharing the dish (this was not the combo platter). The wings and the lo mein were good, probably a step up from your typical Chinese takeout spot. Overall I would give this place another shot in the future when hopefully they work the kinks out of the ordering system.

The concept is great, need good Chinese in Newport. We wanted it to be good. The ingredients are fresh and not cheap which is welcome but the flavors were not there. We tried the egg roll (doughy and no flavor inside), fried rice (was dry), steak and broccoli had too much citrus zest flavor, the spicy steak was fine but also strange zest flavor, general thames chicken was dry. The ribs and wings were good. Love the concept of a twist on Chinese and really had high hopes but were disappointed for the cost especially.

This was like a bad joke which we paid over $100! Green Dragon inside Midtown Oyster Bar was a potentially great concept. This is such a failure I am so disappointed. Thursday night ordered at 5pm. We didn't get rice with our mains even though I checked that it does come with rice. Bought two combo meals $18 each ( see photo) they did not even come with the Egg Rolls as described. Ordered shrimp dumpling soup - ended up with pork dumplings. No sauces, no chili as described... Ordered Crab Rangoon, soggy, 95% cream cheese, no sauces... I can't believe the price & the taste. Everything was so salty and underwhelming. Like bad home cooked Chinese. Don't bother! I want to support local but stop trying to rip us off! Support your real Chinese Restaurants.

Online ordering was quick and easy. While it's a little hard to park, the pickup went smoothly as well. HIGHLY recommend the dumplings, egg rolls and crab rangoons. The modern twist on our favorites made this takeout an absolute win!

Happy to support this pop up. Great job. We ordered online. Pork dumplings, pork fried rice and general Thames chicken. Delicious and they don't shy away from spice! Order was ready when we arrived. Thanks
