The restaurant was lovely but the hostess was extremely rude. So rude that we almost left. Not only was she indignant that we made two reservations (because we didn’t get a confirmation of the first), but she straight up lied to us about tables closer to the windows being already spoken for (which they were not). As we prepared to leave, the server, Marie, stepped in to make it right. The food is good but a bad start, can ruin the experience.

Didn't have the menu they said. They used all the food from the bar next door. Overall a bad experience. Our apps and food came out at the same time and we specifically said for that not to happen. Would recommend

One of the reasons we stay at the Marriott is because the service in the restaurant is always first class. Breakfast is a real treat when we're on holiday and the buffet is good value. The views of the harbour compliment the food.

We had an exceptional dining experience. Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and a good sense of humor. Our food was delicious. There were 4 of us and We had the clam chowder, lobster claws, swordfish with sweet potato gnocchi w pesto, lobster roll and red fish with dirty rice. Everything was prepared perfectly. We had key lime pie and crème brûlée for dessert that did not disappoint! We also had the ginger Pom Margarita that was out of this world and was even given the recipe ♥️ Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Had the breakfast buffet here several times. Its always very busy, but the service is good. The food is mediocre, but you get a good variety for the price. Make-your-own-waffles are always delicious with toppings they provide. They have a regular menu for breakfast too.

The Newport Marriott is a really pretty hotel right on the marina. We were there for a company Christmas party and stayed the night. The weather was rainy and we were looking for breakfast without having to go far the next morning. The MainSail was the perfect option. The restaurant is open and airy. They have a buffet option but also have al la crate options as well. My husband got the homemade hash and eggs. The poached eggs were over cooked and barely runny but everything else was delicious. I had the croque Madame. It was gigantic. I ate about 1/3 of it and was stuffed. It was served with a very soggy salad that had about 1/4 red onion in it. The croque madame was delicious. Our waitress was great - attentive but not overbearing. I can't say I'd come back for no reason but if I was staying at the Marriott again - I wouldn't hesitate to come back. I'd be particularly interested in trying the brunch buffet.
We were not impressed. Matradee/hostess/waitress was pleasant, so I can't blame her. Menu was pretty limited and not much was appealing. I had steak with chip crumbed on top; no veggie or side dish. My wife was so turned off she decided to just have a beer.
For our 6:30pm reservation on thanksgiving day, there were only three main dinner entree options and the two non-meat options (scallops and lobster) were sold out. I understand that this is thanksgiving, but i specifically booked this restaurant because it had a non-thanksgiving meal option and more importantly a non-meat option for my partner. Therefore, my partner only ate appetizers for our dinner. I was very disappointed.
We booked this restaurant for the convenience of our arrival night. We arrived an hour early and had the just opened dining room to ourselves. Service was warm and inviting, with every accommodation we sought. Food and view made for the perfect celebration. Excellent!
My wife and I made reservations and were glad. There were a few edding parties and the place was packed on Sunday AM. We both did the buffet. The selection of food was good and fresh. I had an omlette, english, fresh fruit and all were good. Would go back again.

Main Sail was great! I hate smoked anything. My husband got the smoked cod appetizer and I loved it. We both had the tuna with lentils and it was delicious. Menu is not large but everything is excellent! It was our anniversary and they provided special dessert that was beyond different and amazing,

We went there because we had a 20% off coupon. Also, we tried to make a reservation for 6 or 6:30 pm, but supposedly nothing was available. So we made reservations for 5:30. At no time was the restaurant ever full. Since they had just opened again for dinner, the first thing that was upsetting was that the menu listed under the Marriott/ Mainsail website is not the current menu at all. The current menu is very limited and consits of 13 items, 3 of them being Desserts. The waitress was very nice and tried what she could to please us. The food at the end was pretty good. The duck was cooked perfectly. The Hake I was told was also good.The steak cooked perfectly but a little Salty.

Potatoes were obviously bought and generic. Service might have been a tad friendlier but was excellent for quickness and attention. Omelette appeared to be microwaved instead of cooked in a pan. Otherwise, very tasty and good. Toast was generic and nothing to remember. Not good. View of the harbor was nice. OK value but more for the convenience than the value.
