Slow service made more annoying because the server could not hear our order over the loud music!
The RFP LOBSTER BISQUE had tons of lobster but the bisque was inedible! I had three spoonfuls and took the rest home to FIX IT! The Baby Back Ribs looked like they were left over from the night before or the day before that! The scollops might have been the best dish, yet a bit over cooked. The calamari were way too greasy. AND how hard is it to get hot coffee?

It was a slow, quiet evening on an off-season night. The server and staff were lovely and friendly. We ordered a chicken Caesar salad, which was ok. My kids ordered the chicken tenders and the kid's pizza. The pizza was just an enormous blob of cheese. I had to ask them to cut it again because it was falling apart. Even after the extra cutting, the cheese came right off when my kids bit into it. My kids didn't eat it but luckily my husband did đ I ordered the coconut shrimp wrap, and it was good and flavourful until a piece of shrimp fell out. I realized it was undercooked. Not a great experience. My advice is to check your food before you eat it.

Visiting our son and had never eaten here before. The food was good, excellent portions, flavor and atmosphere quite nice for a Saturday lunch. However, our waitress who was training another individual was not very pleasant. I am unsure if she was tired of being followed by the trainee or something else, but she quite literally took the food off the table without asking if we were done (and yes there was food on the plates still). The poor trainee, his eyes nearly popped out when she pulled everything off the table without asking. When she brought our bill she almost took the credit card out of my hand. It was very rushed, felt very uncomfortable and not to mention she never brought the salsa (but I couldn't ask her for it as she never checked in with us). Honestly not what we expected at all given the hostess was darling and quite sweet (we had an infant and stroller) and she made us feel more than welcome and helped us get the stroller situated on the main level. We would go back but we will *hopefully* get a different waitperson
Kid-friendliness: Quite friendly and helpful with our infant granddaughter.

Great location and atmosphere! I like it a lot. The food is just ok. Pasta is little too creamy and pizza is too oily. But I like the dessert!

Conversation at the door, Red Parrott Restaurant March 15, 2025: 'Drinking?...Yay! ... step right in and pay, pay, pay! Eating? Go away! ...It's parade day, St Patrick's Day! We only allow age 21+ today!" **************************** Alas, despite the "Restaurant" title, our party of three (grandmother with 21-year-old grandson and his 19-year-old girlfriend) was denied access because not everyone in our party was 21 years old. The rest of our group was already seated upstairs, but we were turned away. It was 11:00 a.m. and we were planning on eating lunch.
Getting a correct check tonight was impossible. The Nashville Chicken Sandwich is 19.95 on the menu. It comes with sweet potato fries. We were charged 21.95 for each sandwich and $6 for the fries. Pointed it out and still ended up getting over charged. The server was in the back for a long time. We ended up paying over $5 too much when all said and done. Watch the prices! We don't plan on returning- there are too many good restaurants around to have to deal with something like this.
Went here on a staycation. Kids and the rest of the family all enjoyed there food. Drinks were well made and worth the price. However I made the mistake of ordering teriyaki steak street noodles that came in so much teriyaki sauce that I had to pour it into a bowl and even then was just way to sweet. Stick to seafood when eating here. Also they auto put in 20 percent gratuity and then 3 percent credit card charge. So a mandatory 23% on top of whatever you order is crazy. We will not be back.

Our server Dominique was amazing. The food was delicious and the portions were unbelievable. I had the clam chowder and then the steamer bucket. Definitely ate my money's worth. Next time I'm in Newport I will come back.

Bottom Line - food was ok. Started with the Lobster Nachos, which were very tasty, and probably the best part of the meal. Main course was the Baked Cod - this is where it got interesting. The fish, shrimp, and scallop were all nicely...but thats about the extent of it. A bit on the blander side, but the biggest letdown was the Ritz Crumble on top...it was confusing and pretty bad - one bite was enough and off to the side it went. Over-buttered & oily with too much cheese gratin on top turning it into a rock hard cover to a mound of mushy ritz crackers that sank like a stone in your stomach. Meal came with rice, which was crunchy (and not in a good way), despite ordering potatoes as the starch, and asparagus (very good). Service - not the best, not the worst; poor server was stretched so thin...not his fault. Would have ordered more drinks if he had checked in on us after the mains were delivered.
Overall, Red Parrot is a Newport staple that has been here for years. Nice atmosphere serving up New England comfort food and tropical drinks geared to capture tourists. Sadly, I think it a one-and-done, especially for locals. May give it one more try...hopefully it was just an off night for the RP Team.

Just ok. Had dinner with some friends. Food was just ok. Drinks the same. Server was polite enough, but I think he had too many tables. Few little improvements here and there and could be a swell place to have a good time.

My wife and I went here before during peak summer season and had a great experience so we thought bringing her family here would pose no problems.
Our experience was lackluster - plates served before the entree was dirtied and while we were given a new one, the dirty one wasnât taken away. My appetizer plate was not cleared until well after we finished. We had to ask numerous times for water refills (my grandfather-in-law got very frustrated). We felt very neglected.
Food was ok, seemed liked it was rushed out as fast as possible. The Cyprus Mahi looked like it was âpiled onâ while my wifeâs steak and lobster dish saw overcooked lobster and unevenly cooked steak. Sister-in-lawâs steak sandwich was ok but she was not asked what side she wanted and got fries by default.
Disappointed in the service this time, I hope this was a one-time experience and they continue to do better.

Their "ice cream" drinks have no ice cream in them. Don't waste your money.
Food is extremely disappointing. Ordered two pasta both were terrible. Pizza and lobster Mac was good. Burgers were also below par.
Waiter was not helpful with orders as well. Couldnât help us much with portion size and taste as well.
