Excellent little cafe for authentic middle eastern food in Providence. It's a small place and cozy on the inside but the food is phenomenal. I sat by the window and had a shawarma plate and a side of hummus w/ pita. All for around 15$ and I couldn't finish...Shukran, Al-Shami!
The food is amazing. The place is tiny and I have always did take out.
The best Middle Eastern food on Thayer St by a wide margin. Fresh, crispy falafel, great meats, amazing garlic sauce and pickled veggies that you won't find anywhere else for miles. The place is small, but there's plenty of green spaces around on Brown and RISD campuses to take out to.
Absolutely phenomenal. This Syrian restaurant served some of the most soulful, flavor-packed food I’ve had in a long time. Every bite tasted like it was made with love and tradition passed down through generations. The kibbeh was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with a cool garlic dip that tied it all together beautifully. The falafel? Crispy, fragrant, and absolutely bursting with flavor. And the shawarma wrap? A masterpiece. Juicy chicken, tender lamb, fresh veggies, crispy fries inside. Every layer was cooked and seasoned to perfection.
This isn’t fast food. This is food made straight from the heart. You can taste the care in every detail. Will definitely be back!
They don’t have a restroom
WOW WOW WOW! ✨ Ive had a lot of middle eastern food, and this is some of the best! Al-Shami is “Home of the Arabian Delicacies” and not a single lie was told.
We ordered the Chicken Shawarma and Kufta Kebab Plates. We were given a falafel each since the chef/owner said it would be about 20 minutes since we came as soon as it opened but he has fast hands! The falafel was delicious. The meat was well flavored, the rice fluffy and cooked to perfection. The star of the show was the garlic sauce! A little tart and rich with garlic flavor which rounded out every dish. Don’t sleep on the side salad either!
We basically INHALED the food. Cannot wait to return!
Terrific. I had the shawarma-mix wrap which had the most delicious pickles and seasoned meats. Pricing felt reasonable and the food was made quickly. The chef was kind and even gifted me a falafel piece unprompted.

I had a falafel there yesterday. Compared to the other falafel shops in the area, it tasted the best and the portion was also the biggest. I used to go to East Side Pockets most of the time, but I will always come here in the future

First of all, best Falafels I've ever had, easily. Prices were reasonable and food was very fresh. Also, food and venue was halal. No music playing no images or idols which is more than I can say about most "halal" restaurants.

Driving back to NY from a short Road Trip decided to have a quick bite in Providence. Had the chicken with rice platter & the mixed Shawarma wrap, the food was good, but just a bit too much vinegar/ lemon taste but overall, it was good. The 2 girls serving were friendly.
