My friend and I went here for our birthday dinner. We had courses that were paired with a drink. It was my first time doing something like this, it was so good. Our waitress was awesome too. She was cool, friendly, attentive (but not up our asses), and how a waitress should be. I didn't expect this place to be so big but we went on a rainy day and it was pretty empty. Can't complain about anything though, we had a great time there. Food and drinks were delicious! I'll definitely go back to try something else.

We were able to obtain a table for outdoor dining and enjoyed a meal of terrific Italian Food! I would highly recommend the Gnocchi! Live music close by made the whole experience so enjoyable. Service was excellent, too!

This place has something for everyone & reasonable prices. The bolognese is delish! The gluten-free penne is great. We would for sure return.

This place has gone waaaaaaaaay downhill. It was never a culinary powerhouse, but you could always count on a decent sandwich or pasta, a nice location and good service. The past few times I have been there I have had horrible experiences - we are talking under-cooked chicken and fried mozzarella that was ice cold in the middle. Some of the servers are very nice, but others look and act as if they just got off of the night shift in a gentleman's club. The hostess was rude and "snippy" to us. I'm not sure what is going on here, but it used to be a summer staple and now I won't go back....

Went here this afternoon for apps and sangria. The best sangria I think I have ever had. Our waiter Matthew was a true gem. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. Highly recommended and will definitely go back if ever in the area again.

I have to say that the ambiance is not wonderful, but the food and wait staff make up for it! We had a wonderful and relaxing evening. The food was presented well, it was absolutely delicious, and our beautiful waitress was so attentive!

It was awesome the service was a little off but the food was delicious. My husband had pasta and he is not a pasta person.

This restaurant was a serious disappointment. Do yourself a favor and don't come here at all. Our waitress was too young and wasn't trained to do her job well. She was unprofessional dressed in booty shorts and a low cut top exposing her breasts. She clearly didn't know the menu and when asked about their sangria the waitress responded by saying, "well I can't legally answer that question because I'm not of age." She also couldn't tell us what kind of sauce was on the different pasta dishes. I don't know whether to blame her inexperience or the restaurant for not setting her up for success. As I mentioned spend your money elsewhere the service, food, and ambiance just isn't worth it.

I guess 3rd time's a charm with Caffe Dolce Vita. I have been here twice for lunch and always left very unsatisfied and disappointed. The first time two times I came here for lunch and ordered from the pre-fix menus. Both times I had awful waitresses who would take our orders then disappear. My friend and I literally had to ask the bartender or other waiters to bring us things we needed or refill our drinks. So coming back for dinner the other night I was expecting another bad experience. But to my surprise dinner was amazing and our waiter was on point. For an appetizer we split the calamari which was actually a tiny portion for the price. That was a little disappointing, but it was delicious so it got the thumbs up for taste. I had the gnocchi which made up for the small appetizer portion because it was huge! I had enough to last for lunch the next day. The sauce was delicious and I loved my Sangria. There is no designated parking for Caffe so I will admit trying to find parking on a Saturday night on Fed Hill is IMPOSSIBLE. We actually ended up parking down the street about a block and walking over. Did love the outside seating area the summer weather was beautiful and there was live music by the water fountain. All in all the experience made up for the lunch monstrosities. So I will go again at dinner, but not sure if I will go back for lunch anytime soon.

THE worst dining experience I've had on the hill. From the ambiance, to the service, to the food itself. Very disappointing. I grew up in RI and came back to visit from California with my girlfriend - thinking I would get some authentic Italian food. I was seriously let down and left wondering what has happened to federal hill in providence. There were 4 of us, and we had to send back one of the meals bc the veal was spoiled. We also contemplated sending the bolognese back but didn't want to be 'that' table and complain about everything. Bottom line is that I won't be back there and that place has seriously gone down hill.

We had an iffy experience here. The host (I do not remember his name) was extremely helpful and funny. We were off to a great start. Once seated, we sat for about 20 minutes without a server or acknowledgement. Meanwhile, there were at least 4 servers all around us and the outside section was not big enough for us not to be seen, especially when we were in the middle. The host noticed and asked if anyone had helped us yet. You could tell he had a lot of sympathy as he immediately went to get us waters and find our server. We received our drinks and he said if she were not there in 5 minutes with bread, he would get that for us too. About 10 minutes later our waitress came out. So this was about 35 minutes without a drink order or food order taken. Of course she apologized and was very very nice, so we could not figure out what the situation was. She immediately took our drink and food order. Drinks took about 15 minutes to get to us, and food, another 15 after that. I cannot say this is a slow or anywhere near bad business as other tables were all constantly with a server checking on them. I think that we just sat in a cruddy section that maybe servers were confused on whose section it was. Overall, our food was great. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and a white sangria. I would definitely go back, but maybe be a little more vocal about not having a server after 20 minutes, rather than sitting and saying nothing.
