The food here is good , but it is pretentious beyond belief and the portions are meager. Overpriced and completely pretentious, do not come hungry

In the upper eschelon of food exists a few restaurants that feel like a fortuitous combination of creativity, passion and execution. A place where the chef has the power to change the menu daily. Im happy to report Persimmon on this list. Everything from the deviled eggs to the foie gras to dessert hit the mark. What a lovely surprise as an out of towner to find such a culmination of vision. I wont be back to Providence without going back.

A very pleasant place with an interesting menu, but I was disappointed by the execution when I went for dinner. Appetizers were nice but mains not really. A lost opportunity.

My partner and I got the croquettes (best thing we ate all night- so delicious), agnolotti, lasagna (so good!! The bechemel is fantastic), the chicken breast (I did not taste this as I do not eat meat, but my partner said it was really good). In terms of cocktails, we actually got two alcohol free cocktails/mocktails - the bees knees and Hugo spritz - which were the best mocktails I’ve had in providence. For dessert we had the honey orange tarte which was light and delicate. Overall I would say this is our new favorite place for date night! The food was delicious, the ambiance was nice, and it is a pleasant area to walk around. Great for vegetarians, though I would suggest talking to your server since the menu changes regularly. I believe what I listed here covers all of the vegetarian options currently on the menu. I would note that portions aren’t huge. My partner and I finished everything we ordered
We chose to spend our anniversary at this delightful restaurant and we were not disappointed. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. We were seated at a lovely table by a window that was just perfect. The service was superb from beginning to end. Lisa, the owner, came by to wish us a happy anniversary, as well as all the staff members we encountered. We enjoyed an amazing array of food. The oysters tasted like the ocean ~ so fresh! We chose the spaghetti bolognese and foie gras with duck neck as our entrees. Each was a gastronomical experience! Dessert was the beyond phenomenal. The pistachio and strawberry layer cake with basil ice cream was heavenly. It consisted of a multitude of elements that sung in harmony! Persimmon provided us with a memorable evening that we will always treasure. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our anniversary an evening to remember!

Been wanting to come to Persimmon for the longest time - it was amazing!
Service was great, being attentive without over-bearing. When our waitress would bring something to a nearby table, she’d quickly say something like “your next course should be out next” or “I’ll be right by to see if you need another drink.” In a restaurant where the waitstaff are constantly busy, it was a really nice touch to feel seen throughout the entire night.
Drinks were delicious. Fancy enough to seem exciting, but not so fancy as to feel overwhelming.
The food? Outstanding. Between two of us, we got 8 appetizers/entrees and two desserts. Any complaints were VERY minimal (I wanted the sourdough with miso-lemon butter to taste of more miso, while my girlfriend was not a fan of the fois gras). Standouts were the beef tartare, braised greens croquettes, agnolotti with morel mushrooms, and veal cheek/breast. Neither one of us are huge dessert people, but they were amazing - the Thai basil ice cream that came with the strawberry-pistachio cake should be sold by the gallon!
While the prices make this a restaurant I won’t be able to visit consistently, it’s certainly one that will be at top of the list during the year for future birthdays and anniversaries.

One of our favorite restaurants in Providence - we make a point of grabbing dinner at Persimmon anytime we're attending events nearby.
Superb menu - everything we've tried has been incredible, and solid wine/ cocktail 🍸 menu.

We had a reservation and got right in, even early, which was nice. We decided on the tasting menu to try something out there. The server explained that they would explain the meal as it came, which was fine, but I had questions about certain meats and other ingredients that were involved. He sort of danced around my questions just for those ingredients to show up in the course. I am not allergic to them, but was a bit annoying to see them manifested, especially when he was more or less like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ when beef and lamb showed up as course highlights after asking if red meat was prevalent.
We were surprised for the menu to be so meat heavy and so winter flavor focused for the summertime (red meat, cream sauces, leeks throughout). I was expecting lighter flavors and wish that the server had explained the shape of the menu even if it was supposed to be a surprise. The dessert was standout (and the only distinctively summer) dish -- a yogurt icecream with rhubarb. That was amazing.
The service was fine but not special by any means. We had to ask for more water at least twice or three times, despite there being so many people working there and visiting our table every course.
Somewhat unrelated but there was a strange lingering non-food smell where we were that was distracting, but not overwhelming.
Overall, I'd go back and try some dishes and definitely get dessert but I really do think that should describe the tasting menu in bold stokes compared to keeping it a total mystery.

I have been going to persimmon over two years now . I would say that the service there have consistently deteriorated .the wait times for food has gotten longer . The food still tastes amazing but, feels like the magic has been lost

I don’t have the words…. The food was out of this world - better than some of the Michelin-star restaurants we’ve been to.

Really happy we came here! We went with the chef’s tasting menu, and were very impressed by the creativity of the chef. Multiple dishes were like “I’ve never tasted anything like this’”. The combination of ingredients were often out of box but perfect. They also were very accommodating with our dietary restrictions, husband is gluten free and I have to eat fully cooked food with my pregnancy, so they did a fully customized thing for us, which was amazing and made us feel really special. Their menu obviously changes often, so it’s very nice to have seasonal, fresh ingredients. I can tell a lot of people here come repeatedly, which is another great sign. Overall definitely a place worth coming! Love the chef and our server!
