Wow - what an amazing dinner! Every element of the evening was top-notch, from the food to the service. Our server, Larry, was attentive, genuinely personable and provided excellent service.
I started with the Salerno Sidecar ($14), and it might just be one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. It struck a flawless balance between sweetness and bitterness, with an incredibly smooth finish that made it dangerously easy to sip.
For my entrée, I chose the house-made gnocchi ($29), and it was divine. Larry mentioned they make it from scratch, and it absolutely showed—each bite was like a soft, pillowy cloud, perfectly complemented by a rich, flavorful sauce.
We all shared bites of each other’s dishes, and not a single plate disappointed. I sampled their chicken Toscana, chicken Milanese, rigatoni Bolognese and fettuccine scampi. Each one bursted with freshness and layered with flavor. You could taste the care in every dish.
Inside is very clean, has a very inviting atmosphere. Such a nice place and I highly recommend.

Sat at the bar and a great bar. Excellent food. I had the butternut squash ravioli special and my husband had the orecchiette pasta with sausage. Bartender made a great cosmopolitan. It was a bit pricey but what else is new! Given it's an Italian restaurant, maybe some Italian music playing in the background? Just something to add to the atmosphere.

I didn’t have high expectations but the place was pretty good. Great service. Some items were disappointing and overpriced, like the meat and cheese board that seemed to be cheddar, Parmesan, mortadella and ham. I would definitely skip that one. The fries were also $9 and just regular fries with cheese and parsley sprinkled on top. But the pasta dishes and salads were very good. Overall it was surprisingly good but I think they act like the food is better quality than it is.

Stumbled on this place when we needed a stop over for a night and we’re too tired to search the area. We had a fresh tomato salad (tomatoes from a local farmer). It was fantastic! Our dinners were great. Menu is varied and fresh. The gluten free pasta was very good too. Give it a chance (in spite of its location).

Beyond Terrible: I ordered the special, a NY Strip with frites and broccoli. I've never in 30 years sent anything back at all let alone after two bites. The steak was tough, tasteless and obviously defrosted. My mother only ordered a small appetizer as her meal and we waited well over and hour for our food. Having sent my steak back I ordered Chocolate Budin for dessert. Not Terrible but not good. All in all we were there two hours! The only positive was the coffee was very good and the waiter was a very professional gentleman who took my steak off the bill. I would NEVER return to this place and I hope our waiter finds a better job. He deserves to work at a good quality restaurant.

Did some research on restaurants while visiting Newport for a weekend with the family, happy we found Locanda! The food was some of the best, if not THE best Italian we've had including North End Boston, or Federal Hill Prov. Will definitely return in future.

Everything about this location was excellent. Will be going back again and again.
Such a hidden gem! We opted for the short rib and the branzino — both were absolutely spectacular. We followed our waiter’s recommendations from appetizers all the way through dessert and don’t regret it one bit. He mentioned he was Italian, which made us trust his judgment on the Italian dishes even more. Fantastic service and phenomenal food. We’ll definitely be back soon!
Incredible service and delicious food. One of the best Italian dinners I've had with my family in years. The fried artichokes were perfect, house made focaccia, the porch chop with vinegar peppers, and authentic gelato and cannoli....all perfect. If I could give more stars I would! Truly a gem of south county, a must visit!
Pretty impressive Italian. Every dish is first rate. Service is thoughtful, professional. We keep going back.
When the chef is a childhood friend you have to check out his chefy spot! Visted a few times with my children who enjoyed their apps and pasta. No complaints.
Recently celebrated my birthday dinner with close friends. We enjoyed a little of everything, laughed all night, and left with full bullies! The entire team did not disappoint!
Highly recommend for any date night, girls night, or event.
