This was the one place I wanted to try while visiting Charleston! Seriously, my mouth was watering the second we booked our trip 9 months in advance! It did not disappoint. Got the Mac Daddy "Chicken" and Waffles and my hubby got the Holy Frijoles Batman Quesadilla. Both were amazing. Loved the use of peanut butter tofu with hot sauce and the granola on the waffles. Such an interesting flavor combo. For dessert, we ordered each of the available cookie jars which were de-freakin-lightful. Mine (can't remember the name) had yellow cake and strawberry cheesecake batter layered with almonds and chocolate chips. The other had chocolate cake and layers of buttercream and chocolate chips. We even ordered an order of two pancakes (with granola baked right in) for breakfast the next morning since we were leaving early. I know some folks remarked it was a bit pricey but it was worth it. Please also consider this is a small business making everything from scratch with a fully vegan menu. Quality ingredients and hard work don't come cheap! Updated from previous review on 2025-07-11
Best vegan desserts I’ve had
I normally have a good experience with this restaurant, but my interaction tonight made me question using Annie O as my to-go order go to. I usually place my to-go orders for when I’m on my way to work and it’s usually pretty quiet and only the staff is usually there when I pick up my order today. Today, there were a couple new people that I haven’t met before. I check out and leave my usual tip and realized they have forgotten half of my order. I had called in advance to make sure they would have time to make my order before I arrived, and I even ended up being a few minutes late for pick up. Since I’m on my way to work, I don’t have time to wait for them to make another. They refunded my order for the pre-tax amount of what the quesadilla would’ve been. That’s on me. I probably should’ve asked to redo the entire transaction but in the moment I didn’t think of it so now I’ve tipped and pay taxes on an order for two quesadillas got terrible service and only ended up with one half of my order. So essentially I spent $23 on one small quesadilla, when I was relying on this order for my breakfast and my dinner for night shift. So now I have to spend even more money at the overpriced hospital cafeteria on food just so I don’t go hungry. I don’t think I’ll be doing anything other than dine in from now on, and I probably will rethink tipping before I get my order.

We split an awesome chik'n sandwich, and a quesadilla, and finished off with the amazing "Center of a Cinnabun" pie slice. Perfection.

Annie's Cafe of Sweet Abundance was the best find in our gluten free, vegan food search history. We absolutely loved everything on the menu. My daughter got the strawberry shortcake, which came in a glass jar, and we got several of the decadent cookies on each visit. The oatmeal cream sandwich cookie is divine! The menu is incredible, so I'm posting it for all to see and marvel over the creative ideas here. For those of eating gluten free and avoiding dairy and eggs, this is the answer to your prayers. We'll be back every time we visit Charleston. Thank you!

Annie O'Loves Cafe of Sweet Abundance was the incredible gluten free, vegan place of delicious-ness we never expected to find. We were in Charleston for a week for my daughter's flight training, and this became a fast favorite. Neither of us tolerate gluten, eggs, or dairy, and it's nearly impossible to find a restaurant that makes delicious food and decadent desserts like this. She had the delicious pancakes, and I had the black bean/avocado quesadillas. Her desserts are the most amazing I've ever had, with the cookies and cakes in a glass jar being so amazing that we went back twice for more! What a delightful find here in Charleston. Thank you so much for creating such a remarkable gluten free, vegan option for those of us looking to avoid those products!

Very yummy, healthy options that taste good! The gluten free bread was amazing!
Was doom scrolling on Instagram having coffee yesterday morning and came across a post that show cased all of their new fall cookies and pancakes...10am couldnt have come fast enough. I needed those pancakes. I got them. And WOW. Best. Ever. I will be going back later this week for more breakfast pancakes and for cookies! We bought 4 cookies, all of which were very good, the best one was The Wicked Witch. An intensely black and purple cookie, ive never eaten a BLACK cookie with PURPLE frosting...and im pretty sure its all vegan. Im beyond impressed and absolutely LOVE this place. My fiance and i were fighting over who got to finish the cookie.
Also...the lady their split our pancakes into to dishes, i didnt even ask that she just did it. It made our experience even better as we had jjst planned to lean over and split a single serving together as a way to try it....THANK YOU!!!!! See yall again very very soon!!❤️❤️🤝

Now with even more choices of savoury and sweet options. Always a favourite place to visit!
The cookies are huge and were great, but I got the crispy chicken sandwich and even after reading the menu description it was not what I expected. Was cubes of tofu with pesto (which was good) and savory granola (which was a little strange but kind of worked?) and a slice of cheese. When asked for my choice of side I chose chips, and got nacho chips with a dipping sauce of cheese. The bread on the sandwich was probably one of the better GF breads I'd had, but I'm not GF. Overall expensive, a sandwich and three cookies was $45 before tip. But it's GF as well as vegan so maybe that's about right? I'm used to paying $12-15 for a sandwich/side and maybe $5 at most for a cookie
Customer service was really good. I had the black bean quesadilla. For the price (especially with tip), this was extremely expensive for what I got. It should have included even a small green salad. Flavors were good but I could have made this at home for much less. I’m not a big sweet eater, but they had a variety of cookies, pancakes, etc on menu that would satisfy someone with a sweet tooth.
The pumpkin spice pancakes were delicious! Love the granola. The pumpkin spice horchata was also very tasty!
Hands down, best eatery in Charleston!!! Staff are all so friendly and accommodating, coffee and food are amazing. ???
