No matter what time I go here and order. For the most part, I always have a good time. The food is amazing enough to say that it’s different from any other Asian restaurant I eat at. And best part it’s a good time when you’re with your friend enjoying the food and drinks. Of course the downside of this location is the parking because the area is usually busy but even then it’s worth going to this place. For the most part I had an enjoyable time eating at this place everytime and when I usually am in the area I will always choose this location.

We had such high expectations and we were so excited to try bok choy boy after hearing raving reviews. But whoever was cooking in the back loved salt, and somehow made the fried rice inedible. (Looked like it was cooked in flaming hot Cheeto dust and the rice was red?) disappointed to say the least. My husband is Filipino and this was no where near what we were expecting. I truly don’t think this is a reflection of the owner/creator of bok choy boy, but this needs to be said.
Amazing lettuce wraps to go !!

Predominant flavor profile of salt. The lumpia was rolled in salt. The tocino was undercooked with no char and not sweet - just mostly salty. The chicken in the dan dan noodles tasted off (either old or recooked), the chicken wings were very salty with minimal gochujang flavor, the crab fried rice had no flavors besides salty and old crab(I like strong crab/shrimp/fish flavor but this did not taste good). I understand that it's a container kitchen attached to a brewery so maybe the excessive salt is intentional for the beer drinkers but I do not recommend if you don't drink or if you want to bring a family here. I'm mixed Filipino and was excited to try some Filipino fusion flavors but was let down. I would not bring visiting family here to try it. If you do not have asian taste buds or like to drink a lot of alcohol while eating- you might like the food. But I personally didn't and am leaving a review for my fellow Asians/Pacific Islanders that you will be disappointed if you are expecting some awesome Asian fusion flavors - the recipes are not structured for your palate.
The ambiance is a laid back brewery vibe and the bar has some of the best root beer I've ever had so that bumped it up a star.
I didn’t realize this place was inside CharlesTowne Fermentory but it was a fun surprise. It ended up working out so that loitering while catching up with a friend wasn’t rude!
This place was DELICIOUS. I ordered the lettuce wraps and my friend ordered the pork belly noods. Highly recommended!!!! Can’t wait to come back!!

Bok Choy Boy is not a restaurant. It is a kitchen that shares space with Charlestown Fermatory, a top brewery in West Ashley.
There is no hostess to greet you. Walk in , snag a table, order your beer at the bar and review the Bok Choy menu on your table. The choices are somewhat limited but the quality and taste are present. You order your food at the food counter. This is not waitress service. They will bring the food to your table nicely prepared and presented. It's not served on paper Plates. The food is Asian as the name Bok Choy Boy suggests. Primarily Filipino, Thai, Japanese. Low key, comfortable and generally inexpensive. Draws a bit of a younger crowd which is fine. My wife and I In our 70's love the atmosphere and vibe. No rowdies, no jerks, just people drinking beer, wine , eating good Asian food while chilling out!

If you haven't been here yet, you are a FOOL! Most unique Asian food we've had since we lived in the Bay. Their pop-up paired with the Fermentory beer and ambience makes for a fantastic night out. Move Bok Choy Boy up to the top of your list and thank yourself for trying it out.

Awful, just awful. The bartender is a sweetheart, but the older woman who works the food window ruins the dining experience. My husband and I came in to try this place out, we were the only ones in the restaurant and the bartender said we can seat ourselves. I noticed there weren’t any menus at the table we were at, so I went over to the food window and asked the woman for some menus. She very rudely said, “there are menus over there already” and i said “no ma'am, there are not”. She continued to say there were and kept her tone, I kept that smile on my face and said “Ma’am would you like to come see yourself?” She waddled over, and said “oh, im sorry about that!”
We still chose to place our orders and stay, despite the poor service. As a younger couple, I understand we may look like “teenagers who won’t tip” but that is no reason to talk down to us. We will not be returning, please fire this woman she is the reason your restaurant is empty.
