Great experience with unique dishes and kitchen. Narrow and booked ahead. The food was delicious. Very small choice, but you have an option. You would need an Uber or walk there. The parking is the issue.

When “pride of kitchen” (perhaps justified) and “haughty arrogance” (never justified) collide you frequently reveal arrogance. At Chez Nous, the collision occurred. This is a restaurant choice that one needs to take carefully. When a menu is this “small” the expectation for exceptional is heightened and sets a bar difficult to hurdle. (And, by “small” it means exactly two choices of appetizers, mains, and dessert. Period.) Now, the kitchen is very good. Excellent? No…very good. Where the kitchen is let down is by the front of house and waitstaff. Here, we enter into the world of off-putting pretension that chills any comforting warmth that is expected from this “level” of hospitality…let alone a restaurant that asks us guests to embrace them more than they us. Gone are the days where a simple request of butter for bread or a small wedge of lemon for a piece of fish should be critiqued by the waitstaff. If I think I need a grind of pepper, please just bring it.This is a harsh review of a talent-laden kitchen. I’m sad to type it. The magic rabbit can be once again be plucked from the hat, but it’ll require a rethink of what we imagine hospitality is. Warmth. Accommodation. Flexibility. And, a simple desire to make new friends. At Chez Nous, bring your friends with you, ignore the staff, eat the food, drink from the curiously curated wine list and hope the two choices on the menu appeal.

Very charming house (like many restaurants in Charleston). The green salad with roasted carrots was fine, but the sea bass with crispy skin and a base of lentils was the best dish I’ve had in my entire stay in the city.Since the menu changes daily, I do hope that when you come it’s on the menu, and please do order it.

A little pricey but SO WORTH IT! We ate at so many amazing places in Charleston and this was hands down, our favorite! The service was great, the handwritten menu that changes daily was adorable, but nothing compares to the food! I have been trying to find duck prepared as well as the one I had here, but I cannot. I have been to highly rated French restaurants in NYC and Paris and this is still my favorite!

Fantastic French food. Great for celebrating and the soufflé is so delicious. I had the duck and took half home with me. It is a long drive for us but it's worth it. The service was excellent.

My birthday dinner at Chez Nous in Charleston was a memorable affair, thanks to impeccable service and a charming ambiance. However, while the limited menu raised expectations for excellence, not every dish lived up to the hype. Let's start with the disappointments. The grouper with Pistachio & Olive, priced at around $50, left much to be desired in terms of flavor. It lacked the punch and vibrancy one would expect at this price point. Additionally, the Zabaione custard dessert tasted overwhelmingly of rum, bordering on bitterness. While I appreciate the concept of alcoholic desserts, this one missed the mark on sweetness and balance. But fear not, the meal wasn't all gloom and doom. The appetizers truly stole the show. The Fennel on Toasted Bread was a delicate yet flavorful delight, while the Kale Salad with Dates & Parmesan Dressing was a perfect balance of sweet and savory. I couldn't find a single fault with these dishes. And then there was the Gnocchetti with Walnut Pesto, which was nothing short of divine. Imagine the most elevated version of mac and cheese you've ever had, with the richness of cheese perfectly complemented by the subtle nuttiness of walnuts. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, leaving me longing for more. In conclusion, Chez Nous offers a mixed bag of culinary experiences. While some dishes may fall short of expectations, others shine brightly enough to make the visit worthwhile. If you're willing to take a gamble, you might just find your new favorite dish. Just be sure to indulge in those appetizers and perhaps steer clear of the boozy desserts if you're craving something sweet.

Wonderful meal, outstanding service, and a great experience. Some cushions on the chairs are needed.
