Very good little spot, I got the fish and yellow rice with cornbread and everything was really good. The fish was really crispy and seasoned well, and the rice was exactly what I hoped it would be. The cornbread was also very good!
Service was great and my order was ready pretty fast. I wish I had found this place sooner!

Great spot and definitely a place to check out

The food was ok. My friend said the grease tasted weird for the fried chicken. But the wings were good, not dry at all. Heavy on the salt for sure. The Mac and cheese and greens beans a were very salty. Green beans were also heavy on the pepper. The Mac and cheese was way too cheesy for my liking. It’s a place to try, but I will not be back.

Old school awesome. Off the beaten path and tasty lunch. Collared greens to perfection, corn, bbq chicken, and fried shrimp. The atmosphere is like an old deli in NYC with a couple tables. Counter service and a good man cooking up great food.

went to college at trident and lived in charleston for 5 years. east side soul food is fairly priced, heavily portioned, and delicious. just not somewhere to sit down and eat, its take out only for the most part.

If you want the real deal, local soul food, this is the place. Delicious!!! Fish was fried to perfection, chicken falling off the bone, sweet cornbread etc. Highly recommend if you want good food.

There are tables but it's mostly a takeout experience.

Food was great. We did pork chops, wings, Linda beans, corn, and collards. Everything was seasoned really well, tasted great

This is by Far the best Soul Food I have EVER put in my mouth. I was very discouraged by other places we tried then Me and my bestie googles soul food restaurants and here we are.

Located in a sketchy part of town.

I should've given this review years ago when I was first introduced, after a Gullah tour with Rhonda.
A shoddy experience w a different restaurant (different state) made me reminisce about this one...and I am missing some GOOD food!
I swing by whenever in the area to take home when I can. It's been too long. ☹️
I love finding a hidden gem like this place!

The prices at this place insanely cheap. "Entrees" are between $6 & $8 dollars, with sides being under $3. Great neighborhood spot run by a family. Favorite menu items are Meat Loaf and Lima Beans. Definitely worth checking out.

Decent place for some local food. The restaurant isn't what you'd call nice but I was there for the food so that didn't matter too much. The owner was nice
The food was good but definitely on the saltier side. I had the fried chicken wing and fried pork chop with yellow rice. Fried chicken was good but the pork chop was quite dry. yellow rice was good.
The price and portion is mediocre. Total for my meal with tips was around 20 dollars and I feel like there could've been a bit more food.

Some delicious home-cooked soul food. It took a minute to get the food bc it was just 1 guy planning the register and making the food but the bbq ribs were MELTING in my mouth and the red rice was delicious.
