Doesn’t quite hit the mark. Staff was nice and location is great but food and coffee was not good. Egg and cheese sandwich was actually egg casserole (with hash browns) that was strong on onion flavor so I had to send it back. Just name it Egg Casserole and Cheese Sandwich?? The replacement quiche was covered in cheddar cheese which made it greasy. And the coffee is flavored. To get regular black coffee you have to get an Americano. As for vibe, the decor is hodgepodge (maybe southern?) and music was hard. The location in a cute village and the nice staff were the saving graces.

Charming café in the Old Village of Mt Pleasant, with an outdoor patio. Perfect lunch spot after a walk to the Pitt Street Bridge park.

We went this morning for our bachelorette trip and had a terrible experience. The female barista was extremely rude, made us feel like we were a burden because there was a group of us, and then proceeded to boss us around telling us where to go / stand etc.

Coffee also wasn’t great. We will not be back!

We ordered two sandwiches, a dessert and one regular coffee. Bill came to $40.00. My chicken sandwich with Brie and cranberry was TERRIBLE. Big chunks of dark meat chicken and very little cranberry on sandwich. Very little anything on sandwich. My husband’s sandwich was tasty but lacked meat.
Almond joy dessert was terrific.

We had a great time at Gala. The desserts were delicious and the building was very nice and quaint.

We got drawn in to Gala Cafe & Bakery by the large, delicious- looking coconut cake someone raved about. It turns out this was actually their weakest link, but fortunately the other things we bought were excellent.
The almond joy dessert is rich and flavorful and just delicious. The pear amaretto cake is amazing and would be just perfect with a cup of morning coffee. As mentioned, the coconut cake - skip it. Dry, extremely sweet, barely any coconut flavor.
Portions are huge (good for splitting). Service is friendly. Ambiance is charming. Parking is extremely limited.

Adorable little cafe & bakery nestled in a charming little sea town. Beautifully presented desserts and delicious coffee. A little too sweet for my tastes, but still a wonderful experience. Sugar lovers would be in heaven!

Upon walking in, the staff was not friendly at all. I’m not one to believe a barista needs to be super nice, but treating a customer with decency seems pretty standard. Both me and my girlfriend did not feel welcomed at all, and we immediately brought that up when we sat down.

Two iced vanilla lattes also took 20 minutes to come out, as well as a muffin that just has to be heated up. Not a big fan of this place, and definitely won’t be back

Drove 20 minutes to try them for a dessert to go- only for them to have closed 30 minutes early. So don’t come unless you call first since their hours of operation are inaccurate.

Disappointed to say this isn’t a great spot to work from—despite what it could be.

I called ahead to confirm the Wi-Fi was working, but when I arrived, it wasn’t. I ordered a meal and coffee intending to get work done, only to realize I couldn’t stay. This isn’t the first time this has happened, and it’s the reason I stopped coming in the past.

The staff is lovely—this isn’t a reflection on them. The issue lies with management. If you want to be an all-day café where people can eat, linger, and work, reliable Wi-Fi is non-negotiable. I didn’t come just for takeout—I came to spend time here and be productive. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible. I really hope this gets addressed, because the space and the team deserve better.

I called Gala on short notice to see if they could do my gender reveal cake. I called many places and had a handful who could make it work, but I chose Gala because I loved coming here.

I sent an email requesting if they can’t do the first design, then a simple white cake with black writing would work.

I ended up with the cake photographed and when calling to express my dissatisfaction, the owner, Jackie reprimanded me saying she designed it herself, everyone else thought it was “cute” and I should be grateful for having her do it on such short notice.

Regardless of me asking for my own design (and paying $67 for the cake), the owner took matters into her own hands and designed what she thought looked good. She originally said I could bring it back for a redesign, but in the same breath said she couldn’t believe how ungrateful I was and can just bring it back for a refund. I thanked her for ruining my plans for such a special event as a first time mother and was shocked by her insensitivity.

The staff was wonderful, but I will not be returning and would not recommend this place to family and friends.
