Came in from a cruise and asked a few natives where to get some Charleston cuisine from a black owned restaurant and they all said "Gillies". My family of 8, ate and dined sufficiently. The food was great!!! Food seems fresh and made to order but worth the wait.

Went in there at 12:16p. ordered our foodLeft out came back at 1:16pm the Food STILL wasn't ready .Asked for a refund Not going back we went next door to cosmic dog during our wait .Came back after eating food wasn't ready got our refund ,Poor slow service

Maybe I went on an off day. I heard good things about this restaurant and decided to try it out. I ordered the pork chop meal and got redrice, Mac and cheese and hush puppies as my sides. The pork chops were good just a little thin. The sides weren't enjoyable at all. The atmosphere wasn't very inviting either

I have been wanting to eat here ever since I saw a clip from the restaurant on one of the food channels. I was definitely not disappointed. We had to wait to be seated, but not long. The wait for our food was longer than some other restaurants, but so worth the wait. Our table had an order of the Soul Rolls, hushpuppies, grilled catfish with slaw and collards, she crab soup, the jambalaya, and the Catfish Charleston. My friend got an order of the banana pudding to go. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend!Parking: A few places in front, with more in the back
