Great place for visiting downtown. Friendly staff. Has all the amenities I need. Walk to to main restaurant and shopping districts.

The WORST hotel in Charleston. It’s impossible to reach anyone at the front desk. Calls are not returned. The water doesn’t get hot. There’s barely enough room to fit in the bathroom. The robes included with the rooms was one pilly polyester green ratty rag better suited for the trash. Also no coffee maker, fridge or microwave, which are usually a given in 3 star hotels.

This is such a cute hotel in a perfect location! Loved the decor and the minimalist rooms. Comfortable bed and great bathroom. Also loved The The Palm for drinks and snacks!

This is a gem! Honestly, the location is superior compared to the higher-end hotels in town. The Ryder is adorable, stylish, and we cannot wait to stay again. Significant improvement vs. The King Charles Inn back in the day. Check out the Little Palm as well.

I wanted to love this place I really did but they made it impossible. I will start off with this the staff here are exceptional. Very nice and friendly people so this review by no means reflex their service. They even took the time to write a happy birthday card for my girlfriend’s bday. Now where the headaches begin. I toilet stopped working after one flush so we requested someone to come fix it and that took about an hour and a half and we couldn’t just leave bc we had our dog with us and we wanted to make and it worked. As soon as he left once again it was broken. After we got unpacked and situated we figured we could just make do with what had. We had to keep pressing the little black button inside the toilet which was such a pain. Takes us to our next headache. After coming back to our room we noticed there were ants everywhere. Another call to maintenance and another delay to our day. Our room was right outside the little palms nightclub where they play music until 11pm so hopefully you don’t want to go to bed early bc that won’t be happening. The location is great safety to the hotel isn’t. Anyone can walk into the hotel and just wander around bc you don’t need a key fob to walk into the front of the place. That’s another issue of mine. This place has a lot of potential just fell really flat.Nearby activities: Close to everythingWalkability: Can walk to everything

The Ryder is a really fun hotel! Very cool design choices by the management, great bar and food, and you can reserve things for free, such as their bikes or refrigerator to your room. This would be a 5 star review, but the place is VERY DUSTY. If you're allergic or sensitive to dust, this is not the hotel for you. It doesn't seem they vacuum the floors. If they added that, it would have been perfect! Hopefully they can add that to their practices!

We booked the room a month in advance and weren't told the parking garage had vehicle size limitation and was under renovation. The room was overpriced for the amenities. The location and the coffee shop were the best things about our stay.

After reading the reviews, I almost cancelled. I am so glad I didn’t. I heard zero construction noise. My room was large and extremely clean. The valet was perfect. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Charleston, and this was one of the best. The only downside is the amenity fee since I never used a single thing it covers.

Shocking poor value for the $$. Bathroom looked like the one at Costco. Minimal hot water, no trash can in the bathroom, sink stopper gone, 79degrees in the room (AC not working), the pool is 50 degrees, work out facility located off site (dont even bother) and to top it off they let you rent a Polaroid camera to make up for this Hostel.

This hotel is in the perfect location! There is a DART free shuttle stop directly across the street and so much more a short walk away. The hotel has a responsive staff and I found them to be friendly. The hotel's downside is that it is a bit of a maze. I am handicapped, I did not ask for an accessible room so this is not a statement about customer service. I typically don't need one or even bring it up but if I stay here again I would ask for a room close to the front elevator. If not the walk can be downright annoying when all you want to do is sit down after walking all day. There is a second elevator but you either need to access it from the garage or walk through the floors, there is no access from the lobby or 2nd floor communal areas. I also had a fully renovated room and there wasn't any construction during my visit. The construction warning when i booked was a concern before visiting.
