Great restaurant great service, delicious food! Wine list is very limited and very expensive for what they're offering. Other than that great joint!

Amazing dinner! We had an amazing experience here! The food was great we had the octopus and the onion soup croquette and escargot for an appetizer. And I had the monkfish for dinner. All was 10/10 plus was pretty healthy. Our server was very nice. We will definitely be back!

Maison is amazing!
The steak was perfectly cooked, the fries were crispy and delicious, and the burger was so good. The salmon appetizer and desserts were also excellent. Great food and outstanding service. Highly recommended!

Was initially going to review this place positively - until I met the owner to have a constructive criticism conversation. What a rude & unprofessional individual. It always starts on the top and this place won’t make it with someone like that on the helm.

Subsequent Edit to this review:

If anyone decides to read the owner’s response, “not exactly” what happened here. It’s simple - if you are comfortable paying for condiments like Mayo, Ketchup or Dijon ( 2 out of 3 we were charged for) for dishes like Steak Frites au poivre and Burger, then this can be your place. If you think this is unnecessary from a principle standpoint and then the owner blowing his top when raising this with him (after paying the bill), then abstain.

As an additional point of caution, if you do decide to go down this path, be weary of getting a berating & name calling texts the next morning on your personal cell….

We're so glad that we chose Maison to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The relaxed atmosphere, attentive service and the food were exceptional. I had the monkfish and my husband had the beef short rib. The sauces were wonderful. We were treated to a champagne toast for our celebration.

What a delightful find! This small French bistro is on North King out of the historical area but so very worth the five minute Uber ride! We arrived and were warmly greeted by staff and shown to our table for two. Our gracious and experienced waiter, Joel, greeted us shortly. He offered us each a glass of French bubbly to celebrate my birthday. His detailed knowledge of the menu was impressive as he walked us through each menu item, answering every question we had. I opted for a starter of foie gras torchon—a buttery pate-style foie gras—that was served with a small dollop of apple butter on one side, roasted pecans in Sauternes on the other and four slices of toasted brioche...heavenly! Hubby had the French onion soup croquette which tasted every bit like the soup in its name but served as a croquette..delicious! As an entree, Joel recommended the monk fish chop. I have had pork chops and steak chops but never a monk fish chop! Tender, buttery monkfish with a bone down the middle was coated in toasted sliced almonds. This was sautéed and served on a fantastic sauce of brown butter jus and capers with a side of Carolina gold rice pilaf. Fantastic! Hubby had the duck leg confit which fell off the bone in a perfectly moist banyuls jus with lentils and foie gras. We completely enjoyed our food and dining experience...from first welcome to final good byes, we were wowed! We wish the owners and staff the BEST of everything and a long run for their restaurant—phenomenal!!! Thank you!

Outstanding service and excellent food. Wine, mains, and desserts were incredible, but we thought the appetizer selection was less interesting, and the ones we had were just okay.

I traveled up from Savannah for a quick trip. I was looking for something other than prototype coastal seafood or burgers. I love French food a French technique, so this place just jumped out at me (It didn’t hurt I had an appointment half a block away after dinner!). I got there right at open, and just sat at the bar. That turned out to be the best move I could have made. I had the pleasure of hanging out and having some great conversations with Evan for nearly 2 hours. I went off his recommendation of the monkfish chop. It was already on my radar, but he reaffirmed that decision. And, as I told him, it was one of the best meals I’ve had this year, and hands down the best seafood dish I’ve had this year. That is from someone who travels for a living. The only dissatisfaction I had was being there on Tuesday night and missing burger night on Wednesday. This is a place that hands down rivals ANY restaurant in the Low Country or Coastal Empire in both service and atmosphere.

When in Charleston this place needs to be added to your go to list. It is tucked away on the less chaotic section of King street! Highly recommend! The food was incredible and the service top notch!
