39 Rue De Jean Reviews
An hour late seating despite a reservation, and not enough seats when seated. Flavorless chicken, slow service, and overcooked meats. Our party was sorely disappointed, and we’ve visited the restaurant previously. The service and food quality have sadly declined.

Myself and 14 other individuals patronized this establishment and it was the worst experience ever. All of us did not arrive at the same time, our reservation was for 1230 but some of us showed up a little earlier. The hostess was nice. When we sat down the manager prepped the table and gave us water. Our waitress arrived and would take a drink order, leave for a long period of time, bring the drink back and repeat the same action. 39 Rue De Jean offers great food and enthusiastic service, with some servers providing exceptional attention to detail. The atmosphere is charming and upbeat, with a nice and romantic feel, although seating near the bar can be nearly deafening during busy times. While the restaurant's specialty cocktails are well done and made with great attention to detail, the food experience can vary; some dishes may be overly salty or underseasoned. Customers have enjoyed a delicious array of mussels and appetizers, including beet and arugula salad with fried goat cheese balls and quail with mushroom stuffing. The mussels, prepared in a light and fragrant white wine and cauliflower cream, are a highlight, complemented by rustic baguettes perfect for dipping. Diners have appreciated that the dishes are not all fried and heavy, which is common in many higher-cost restaurants. The restaurant’s overall dining experience is positive, with welcoming and friendly staff who are responsive to guests. Recent reviews highlight the restaurant’s great wine list, delicious salads and mussel selection, and efficient, polite service. The staff manages to serve large parties promptly and accurately, even with limited time before shows. Additionally, the care taken to accommodate food allergies, such as gluten-free meals with no cross-contamination, is highly valued. Some guests suggest a deep clean could improve the ambiance, as there are signs of debris and dust in corners. With a few minor improvements, 39 Rue De Jean continues to be a charming spot for a good meal and enjoyable service.
