Had dinner on Saturday April 6, 2024. It is a BBQ place and they tell us after we sit down that they have no ribs or brisket. Should have left, but stayed and we had chicken and sausage. Both were basicly bland and flavorless. Worst BBQ I have ever had in the South. They also add a surcharge if you pay with a credit card. So may good restaurants in Charleston, Poogan's is not one of them.

Had reservations for 5:45 on weekday evening. Out of pulled pork and brisket (two main options on menu) never mentioned until placing order.

Had reservations but still waited 20 minutes after being seated until the order was taken. Then they informed us they were out of Brisket- at a smokehouse???

Great food and bar. You can dine inside or outside. We chose to dine at the bar. My wife and I had a great time.

If you like BBQ, specifically pork, Poogan’s Smokehouse is the place to go!In Charleston for the day and wanted a small local place and this was perfect. For appetizer, soda, entree and desert was around $40. It was a team funded dinner so I was ordered without price in mind. For just an entree, ranged from $15 - $25. Ribs were $26 for the half , $36 for the full and I honestly believe a) it’s a good price b) fully worth it.The atmosphere was 10/10, rustic farmhouse vibes which were very comfortable. Seating was cozy, and the lighting was good as well.Food was the best part. Everything was delicious. Specifically the fries and the sweet potato fries were amazing. Highly recommend.Lastly, service was phenomenal. We were a big group, called day of for a reservation and had no issues. The entire time very accommodating, and would check frequently to see if we needed anything. Also started us with water, a plus in my mind.Overall, 5/5. One of the better restaurants I’ve been to in this price range.

It was so hot. The circulation was stifling this place. I’m not sure if the air was just off but it was rough. The food was good. I had a pulled pork sandwich and my hubs had the brisket sandwich. The fries were crispy. The server was pleasant, it just took about 10 minutes to be waited on. Overall it was a good experience and good food.

This was a real disappointment. We went on a Sunday night. The cornbread was cold. Ribs were dry as was the pulled pork. Greens were very hot but very salty. Just a bummer for an $80+ dinner. We went to Poogan’s porch earlier in the day and it was awesome! Go there.
