My first bite took me back to my grandmothers kitchen the day after a turkey dinner. The thin sliced turkey, perfectly balanced sharp provolone, and the tomato, it was like it came straight from her garden that morning. Can’t say enough, go get a sammy, make your day better.
My wife and I are always on the lookout for great sandwiches, and this place definitely delivered. We tried their two specials—the “Such a Nice Italian Boy” and the “Italian Girl.” They were $17 each, but that’s very standard in Charleston these days. The difference is most spots don’t live up to the hype, and the food often feels way overrated for the price. Not here. These sandwiches were absolutely packed with super fresh, high-quality ingredients, and tasted like the real deal. Tony Soprano would be ordering that Gabagool from here. Totally worth it. We’ll definitely be back.
Every sandwich should taste this good. Wow! I wish I had a shop like this up north. Everything tasted so fresh! 10/10
We were down in Charleston for a college tour and stopped by for lunch. The sandwiches we ordered were fantastic. Portion size was indeed large and the ingredients were super fresh. We ordered the Americano, the Italian Girl and the Southern Hospitality.
If you're looking for as close as you can get to a panino off the streets of Italy (but in Charleston), The Pass is your best bet. Its a pretty tiny shop with limited seating, but the sandwiches are the STAR of the show. We split the Focaccia del Capo and I'll be dreaming about that sandwich for months to come.
The food was very fresh and the service was quick and amazing. Additionally it was the best sandwitch I've ever had. All of the ingredients were very fresh and they make the food right in front of you. I had the italian girl and it was spectacular. The owner was also incredible and friendly. If you are looking for a good sandwich in Charleston definitely come here.
The absolute best turkey sandwich! We had the Italian Girl and antipasta salad. Small dining area but we were able to watch them make our food. The owner made our sandwiches and they were huge! Fresh bread!
You meet good people and then you meet great people and Anthony surpasses that scale. He introduced himself, shook my hand, made me a sandwich off the menu because of my food allergies (a prosciutto, mozz, greens and balsamic on ciabatta) and it was great! I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone.
While visiting from Birmingham AL, I enjoyed very much an excellent Italian Boy dinner with three companions. The fine Italian food and intimate dining experience were well worth the money. Anthony Marini is a talented and personable chef. Sit at the bar and enjoy the show.
Ordered takeout for two sandwiches, the Italian girl and the Italian boy! Really good sandwiches - super filling, great flavor. $17 each.
The only thing to note is that both sandwiches (both halves of each) had a horizontal toothpick in them. Usually they’re vertical to keep the sandwich together but a couple bites into the sandwich, bit right into the toothpick. Feels extremely dangerous.

We did a quick Google search for something to eat. The Pass came up, and I am so glad it did. The Italian Girl and Boy sandwiches were so refreshing and delicious 😋. It deserves 10 stars. 1/2, the sandwich filled me up thru dinner. So good!
