Today was my first time stopping in for lunch and it was absolutely wonderful. Baked chicken, broccoli casserole, mac & cheese with a little bit of cornbread and outstanding sweet tea. Truly a perfect slice of southern hospitality!

Gene's Restaurant is a popular spot in the growing downtown Chester to enjoy a good "home-cooked" meal without the hassle of preparing it yourself. The staff is super nice, friendly, helpful, and patient, ensuring quick and friendly service. The menu is reasonably priced and always features banana pudding, with options like the chicken pot pies that are highly recommended. The food is served hot, and crinkle-cut fries are perfectly crispy. The restaurant has a cozy, familiar atmosphere, and it looks much the same as it did 30 years ago, with the only difference being the NO SMOKING sign. Although the bathroom is small and not ADA accessible, overall, it is a great place to stop by, enjoy good food, and feel at home. The service is friendly and prompt, making it a favorite among many who grew up in the area, and a place where every local eats.
