My husband and I went for their New Year's Eve celebration. Each course came out and the food was cold, the white asparagus soup especially was absolutely the worst. However, I have every intention of returning for regular dinner service to get a better, more fair assessment of the quality of food. The menu looks incredible. Beer? Fabulous. Service? Fabulous. The atmosphere? Lovely. And we had an excellent time. Unfortunately, not all dishes do well when you're trying to seat a restaurant full of people at the same time.

The staff was very nice. There was a very nice atmosphere outside with live music and string lights because they had a Christmas event. The food was just ok in my opinion. The potato pancakes were not very good and overpriced in my opinion at $7 each. There was no food items for kids. Overall, it's a nice place just know what to expect.

I went to the Christmas market, but it’s not an authentic German Christmas market. It’s really just local vendors that come out and sell their product and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just not what I’ve experienced when I lived in Germany where you can smell the bratwurst cooking outside and the Glüh Wein. Yes, it’s cold but that’s how the Germans do it, so it’s not a German Christmas market by their standards.
I was going to go inside and get a brat which was 7.50 and would’ve had no problem paying that price, however another four dollars for sauerkraut is a bit high for me when I can get a whole can for a couple of bucks three at the most at Aldi.
I also understand we are in a bad economy and so I don’t judge them too hard and it was a nice environment inside. It’s more of a walk up and order and sit down kind of place but still very nice and good beer reasonably priced by today’s standard. It’s very noisy like many German beer halls so if you like to speak a little louder than most or want to bring kids, it shouldn’t be an issue. Also, they had some vegetarian options for those few of you that don’t eat meat.

This is a great example of the type of place Columbia needs. The food is cooked well and accurately. It f you want American beer or food then go to Applebees. If you want authentic German food, beer, and atmosphere then come here.

Came for the bratfest and beer. Always a great time here and the food is awesome.
Tucked along the scenic banks of the Congaree River in Columbia, SC, Bierkeller Brewing Company is an absolute gem if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing brewery experience with great beer, food, and service. The brewery sits right by the Three Rivers Greenway, offering stunning riverside views and a huge, well-designed outdoor biergarten that feels peaceful and open, even on busy days. It’s dog-friendly, family-friendly, and has plenty of shade and seating—perfect for everything from a solo afternoon beer to a group gathering.
The beer is excellent—crisp, clean German-style lagers brewed with serious attention to tradition. Every pour tastes fresh and balanced, and the variety is enough to keep both casual drinkers and beer lovers happy. The food pairs beautifully with the beer: soft pretzels, bratwurst, schnitzel sandwiches, and rotating specials that keep the menu interesting without being overwhelming.
Service is friendly, fast, and laid-back. The bartenders and servers are knowledgeable and happy to talk through the beer selection or offer samples. Best of all, the vibe here is calm. Even with live music or trivia nights, the volume stays manageable, and you never feel rushed or crowded.
Bierkeller has become a go-to spot for relaxing by the river with a great pint in hand. Highly recommend!
I'm guessing this might be good for the college scene? I was not impressed. I had to order at a window (which is technically fine, just setting the scene for you). I had to clean my table before and after (like take up my plates and garbage). The dining area is like a plain cafeteria, nothing special. The food was alright, small portions. I was still hungry after my Jäger Schnitzel. Not the worst, but I wouldn't want to go back.
Amazing German food with some amazing German inspired Beer! Would definitely recommend!
5 German beer selections, all good. We ordered a pretzel w cheese. It was stale, dry and smaller than the palm of my hand. My granddaughter ordered brat w kraut and German potatoe salad. Brat was small, maybe 4 inches, $7.50. Kraut, about 3 tablespoons, $5. Potatoe salad, 3 table spoons, $5. So, good beer, food so so and expensive.

Great location, mid food, went recently got two drinks and a pretzel, paid 40 dollars, prob won't be returning
Beautiful riverside views and polite service. However, the food did have solid room for improvement. The spätzle wasn’t cooked properly / well and the schnitzel was not a very thin slice( almost chicken nugget thickness). The pretzel was drenched in salt.
The bratwurst was pretty good!
I would come here for a beer and the view, not for the food.
Great location and beer selection.
Good, authentic German food. I appreciate their rotating specials. Big fan of the trivia on Thursdays!
Vibes are nice, fries are good
