A late breakfast for just me, myself and I. My order, this visit, was the Mediterranean Omelet with extra feta, potato squares, three pancakes, coffee and water. Excellent! The Omelet is cooked a bit differently. It's fluffy and I liked it! Service was very good too. I believe hours cover breakfast and lunch only. In a shopping plaza so parking is ample.

Got on the waitlist online for 40 minutes. When we showed up we found out that didn’t matter and waited another 25 minutes. The host’s attitude towards customers and coworkers was really uncomfortable. We got seated and waited another 40 minutes for breakfast. Eggs were undercooked, blintzes and pancakes were so sweet that you can’t finish them, and they don’t season their home fries. Really wouldn’t recommend this place.

The host were very rude and accommodating me and my family. My mom received a text stating that we had a new seating time, but no one called or sent a message saying our table was ready. The hosts at the front were telling us to not look at the messages and be patient. He initially gave us a 45 minute wait and we have been waiting for an hour. We are not from Columbia, South Carolina, but we weren't impressed with the customer service.

First and foremost, the food and service were great however, I witnessed the situation that was jaw dropping. The lady with the red hair’s daughter came inside the restaurant passing out hugs. The little girl proceeded to give the lady at the top corner a hug, and the lady looked at her with disgust. The heartless lady then told the redhead lady that if her child comes to her again, she will call CPS. The redhead lady said what and the other lady repeated herself again. I saw nothing wrong with what the little girl was doing. How can one threaten a child? How can one threaten a parent saying that they’re going to have one’s child taken away without cause? My family and I have been eating at this establishment for years and I have seen many things but this right here tops the cake. Are these the type of people that you have serving your patrons if so, I will not stand for it and my family and I will never come back. That incident was disgusting, and I am appalled. Shame on her.

Overall, a good experience. The hostess seemed distracted on her phone and rushed us to the table without much interaction. Thankfully, our waitress was exceptional, and the buttermilk pancakes were the best I’ve ever had!

These are the best pancakes I've had in my entire life. The food was so incredible for such a reasonable price! The staff was friendly, and the menu options all sounded delicious. Plus, the mugs they sell are so cute!

The Original Pancake House was pretty good, but it wasn’t amazing. I got the chocolate-chip pancakes, which were fine, but nothing better than anything I could’ve gotten at Waffle House. My friends had a similar impression of their meals, stating that they were “fine”, but didn’t really “hit the spot” per se. I also got a plain bagel and a side of bacon, which I can definitively say were below average, and simply not very good.
As for the ambiance, it was pretty basic, but enjoyable nonetheless. I liked the thematic artwork on the walls, which displayed pancakes and other breakfast items without coming across as goofy or silly. In addition, I loved how the menu had a section titled “What are Pancakes?”, which detailed the history of pancakes and the restaurant as a whole, which I thought was a nice little touch. I also loved their old-fashioned coffee mugs, which are difficult to find these days, despite their higher level of quality and effectiveness. Finally, our server was sweet and did a pretty good job of checking up on us.
Overall, I’d say that the Original Pancake House was pretty average and wasn’t really anything better than I could’ve gotten at a chain restaurant like Waffle House or Denny’s. I may come back in the future, but I wouldn’t make it a priority, nor would it be at the top of my list.
This place is always busy. But the food is good, service is good for how busy the servers are. The coffee is bitter usually ,not my favorite. They have awesome oatmeal.the host is very friendly.
