Corakko Sports Club (formerly Melrose Beach Club) was a game-changer for our vacation. Beautiful pools, great staff, and right next to the beach! Kenneth, Savanah, and Carson are excellent. Thanks for making our stay on Daufuskie Island a blast

Closed down. At least they put a sig up saying they were closed. Only one place to eat on the island--The Old Daufuskie Crab Company. Better buy groceries for getting by!

You must drive your golf cart when visiting Daufuskie Island beyond the abandoned Melrose Resort to discover excellent food and amazing views. You will see boarded cottages by the sea as you make your way to this recently opened restaurant. You can look up the history of the investor for Melrose Resort who took advantage of so many with his lavish lifestyle on others money. The new owner of Bells at the Beach is helping revitalize some of the old resort and needs support of locals and all visitors. Once you arrive at Bells at the Beach, you will NOT be disappointed! Cocktails are delicious, friendly staff and service is great. You don’t want to miss this stop because the restaurant is waterfront offering relaxing sounds, gorgeous views and a walk on the beach is only steps away with your drink in hand. There is a gazebo that offers a great photo opportunity for your group. Could be a wonderful spot for a wedding. Try the steak sandwich with waffle fries for your lunch….YUMMY!!!!

After months of avoiding the place based on previous experience (see previous review), we decided to try again for a late lunch, based on reading that ownership and management have changed. The lunch menu is basically sandwiches, burgers and a couple of other items like crab bites. The bar is now featuring Daufuskie distillery products-based cocktails. The good news is that the food and service were very good, a big improvement over our last experience a few months back, although in fairness, there were only a handful of people in the place when we got there. If it had been as busy as when it first opened, the outcome might have been different. The bad is that there were still signs of the mayhem from a late night party the night before, and that's why I graded a 3 at this point.. Attention to detail is still needed, but we were impressed enough that we will try again for dinner and see how it goes. The location/setting is so perfect that we really want to see a successful operation here. It's still not clear what identity they are trying to establish. Seems like somewhere between sports bar and casual dining. They are having taco nights, pasta nights and live music, late night bar parties, etc. which sends kind of mixed messages to the locals, but there are signs that this might become a good mid-range restaurant for casual dining. And just a side note on costs. Do not expect prices on this island to be competitive with those off island. Food is ferried or barged over and I'm sure trying to order just the right amounts is very tough, often resulting in running out of items, which is not unique to this restaurant or any other here. Not an excuse, just reality, so yes, prices do tend to be higher over here.

What a Hidden Daufuskie Island gem! After driving the golf cart through the woods you emerge upon the beautiful Calibogue sound and right there on the beach is Bells. This place has a wonderful menu and a good wine list. I will describe it as upscale rustic. They tend to be busier on the weekends than the weekdays. When we were there we were two of about 15 people total. I was expecting marginal food but instead we found our food was cooked flawlessly. Steak was perfect and hot, the shrimp scampi was delicious. The cocktails were great. I would definitely go back anytime. Be sure to check ahead of time if they’re open or what their schedule is, using Facebook messenger. They answer this very quickly.

Wow... now known as "Bells on the Beach" this spot is one of the most beautiful public venues in world. The new owners have done an excellent job creating a worthy menu for "an island without a bridge".

Out of the way but good food, drinks and service

Let me start by saying Bishop is amazing and his service was one of a kind. He 100% is the reason I did not completely raise hell on a night of celebration. Might I add, our party was only 5 people, on vacation for a surprise engagement. I cannot even begin to express how absolutely disappointing our food / drinks were at this restaurant. The menu was running limited and then we were advised that out of the like 10 entree options and sides, they ran out of 4 items. Ribeye, chicken, salmon, and potatoes. I ended up ordering the 5 star frozen chicken tenders from the kids menu for a whopping $18. All the food was wrong or absolutely tasteless. Our drinks that were coming from the bar, no exaggeration took over 30 minutes each time we ordered. It’s saddening to think our money (over $300 bill) was such a waste with you all. Every single person at our table has worked or does work in the industry. We are more than understanding when things happen but we also have expectations. We hate complaining or sending back food. And we definitely took care of Bishop and all his hard work. I am going to make sure this review gets seen and I’ll be sure to repost where I can. Customers whom have left very similar reviews don’t seem to get any regard from this establishment and that’s not okay. Fix your restaurant. Thanks.

There aren't many choices on Daufuskie Island. There was limited help, but our server tried her best. We didn't have to wait very long to be seated, but we waited a long time for our food to come. We ordered peel and eat spring, and it arrived HOT. (We expected it iced, and never thought to tell our server...she never asked). The rest of the food was also disappointing. I doubt that many tourists return to the island (we had a nice day, but there's not much to see), but you would think that you'd want the locals to come back.

Stunning views. Limited menu, but what we ordered was very tasty. They had a great band playing when we showed up. We'll be back!

We made 2 attempts to dine at this place, against the locals recommendation and both times denied. I have been extremely understanding with restaurants being slow or not up to par due to being short staffed, but communication is everything. Our party of 16 made a reservation 2 days in advance after being denied an opportunity to dine earlier in the week due to closing early. We left the beach got cleaned up and prepared to go to dinner only to receive a phone call 1 hour before our reservation that due to staffing issues our party could not be seated, again. I have run my small business through staffing issues and understand it happens, but an Island with no where else to go eat, you don't do this. All the locals encouraged us not to bother because the owner didn't care, unfortunately for us we had to find out first hand. Do not bother including this place in your lunch or dinner plans. You will be disappointed.

We knew in advance that the wait time for food would be long so we came with a relaxed attitude, enjoyed our drinks and conversation. The wait staff were friendly and doing their best. Not sure if this restaurant knows what it should be. Fairly high priced but not a fine dining experience with the loud band and screen porch bar area. It might benefit from a good manager making sure tables are ready and taken care of. If they are challenged with not enough kitchen help to get the food out that might be worth an investment. The food when it arrived was generally good. Just a lot of inconsistency and a long wait once seated.

Our family group of 7 ate here our first night on the island. The wait for our food after ordering was long. The food was very skimpy for the price. Our rice was dry & inedible. My tiny portion of salmon was half what is normal and cost $32! Apparently, the pandemic has caused a lot of understaffing which creates a long wait time. My recommendation: bring your own food!
