Went here last year on law school spring break and had a great time. This year, much different. We're a group of 25 year old female law students and two male students and from the start weren't taken very seriously. Our waitress took all of our IDs because she "couldn't read the dates well" except coincidentally did not ID one of the only two males at our table. At the end of the dinner, the bartender laughed and told my friend that they thought we were all underage, so I assume our IDs were taken for further inspection and not because she couldn't see well. The drinks were a disaster. Half of the drinks were incorrect. One of us ordered a blackberry margarita and the bartender said she wanted to "make it fun" and bring it in a martini glass (to which she poured back into a normal glass and found out that she only got maybe 1/4 of a margarita - picture attached). Service was very slow and inattentive. The food was decent, but the service really changed our perspective from last year (when we had great service) so we probably will not be back.

Food was not as described. Wait staff was nice but I'd say they need to work on flavor. Won't be back. Potatoes were cold . Just a super dissatisfied experience.

Food is good. It is a bit pricey, and the atmosphere can be a little bit stuffy if you’re in the dining area away from the bar.

My hosts are Edisto "locals" and were tight with the previous chef PB who passed. His protégé took over and kept a few of his mentor's specialties on the menu. Under the "for the table" section, PB's Butterbeans. A little trough of Butterbeans came out and everyone scooped 4 or 5 forkfulls onto their bread plates. Can't tell you why, but those were the best damn beans I've ever had. The larger dish of fried Brussel Sprouts, same. Just for Starters. Then everyone got their orders at the perfect time, as we were picking pecan bits off the spoutes plate, and the orders of NOLA style BBQ Shrimp, my shrimp and grits, and the fried oysters someone got, the fried flounder the other two guys had and a mahi and clams dish were enjoyed through great conversation and wine and spirits. One of the best meals I've eaten since a dinner in pre-Katrina New Orleans 20 years ago. They stock a great many locally brewed beers, ales, and ciders. They have a full bar and high chairs. Not at the bar, but for kids you may bring along. I didn't see a kids menu, and the $25 pizzas sounded delicious, but my kid wouldn't have thought so. The place is inside some gated community or resort but don't let that keep you from them butterbeans! Just tell whoever is at the guard shack, "We're here for the beans."

Nicest place to eat at Edisto. Food was really good with a great dessert selection too. You can dress up or be more casual. Staff is extra friendly. Enjoyed dinner out with my hubby! Enter from Jungle Road and not Palmetto as Google Maps might suggest. Palmetto Road's entrance is a gated community and you can't get there.

After years of wanting to try Ella and Ollies, we finally made it last night, but man was it disappointing. We were seated and it took about 10 min to even be acknowledged by our server. That was ok, she was clearly “in the weeds” and we were not in a hurry. Had the negative ended there, we’d of been happy. But the inattentive service continued for the entire meal. She took my hisband’s drink order, came back 5 min later, looked at him, and said “I’ll be back w your tea”?. We finally ordered and about 10 min later she came back w a confused look and asked “you ordered appetizers”? No we said…we ordered dinner. Oh right she says. It was like they took a passerby off the street and gave her an apron. I ordered the mahi special which was delicious, though the fish portion was on the small side. The big disappointment was my husband’s Cheshire Pork Chop. It started out tender and then about a third of the way in it got tough as nails. The server asked if she may take his plate and away she went. She came back w his plate a few minutes later, set it down, and said the manager would either remove it or discount it. He didn’t eat anymore. Then 10 min later she came back and asked “Did she come talk to you”? No. She finally cleared the plates. Since he hadn’t eaten much he was thinking about dessert, but it was never offered, she just brought the check. The pork was discounted by 25%?. No farwell, no thanks for coming….we felt like she couldn’t care less that we were there. Maybe we just hit a bad night. The reviews seem to be fantastic or similar to our experience without much in between. We both worked in the industry for years back in the day, so we can understand slow service when a server is too busy, but the lack of friendliness and care by her and the management make it likely we will stick with our usual favorite spots here.

Our party of 9 had the best experience at Ella & Ollie’s. Service was quick and the staff worked as a team to make our time enjoyable. We ordered bread and ricotta, Brussels, and the grit balls. They were superb. We had a variety of food ordered from the burger to the special, shrimp, short ribs and ribeye. Everyone left satisfied and stated that this was our favorite restaurant out of the 6 we had on the island this week.Kid-friendliness: They had variety on the kids menu: chicken tenders, pb and j, burger, and they were good sized portions

My husband and I come to the island for a few weeks each year, and have gone to ella and Ollie's since they've opened. Of all the Edisto restaurants, this is the best for quality, ambiance and delicious dining... and with a great staff as well. Highly recommend it!

We ordered a starter, drinks, entrees, and desserts, and everything was fantastic! The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. I don't think this place has a dress code, but it feels like a less casual place, so I felt out of place with my shorts and t-shirt. Our waitress didn't bring us any napkins, so we had to grab some from a nearby empty table. We would definitely visit again in the future, though. We want to try more of the dishes!

We were celebrating my birthday, and they made it very special. We had a large group of people and the food was phenomenal and the service was excellent. Our waitress Teresa was amazing.
