“We were so excited to see the new concept of Maverick and Travinia take over the old Southern Culture space. We arrived early during a weekday and appeared to be one of the first. The food was delicious. I had the Burrito for breakfast and I was sad to see it disappear. It was so good and flavorful. The home fries were very good. My husband ordered the Allen Bros Jalapeño Grits Bowl. He loved the creaminess of the grits and the the subtle heat from the jalapeño. Our son, who struggles at breakfast with standard breakfast foods, couldn’t get enough of the sausage. He did boycott the biscuit donut holes but literally drank the jelly and custard. You choose your battles. The donut holes were good and we loved them. Restaurant is much more spacious than Taylor’s location which we loved. High chairs and booster seats are available. Kids menu available too.

“Upon entering, the atmosphere was very inviting. After placing my order, they asked me, "What's the weirdest thing you've done in the rain?" It was a cute and engaging touch, with the responses needing to be family-friendly. I ordered the "Retro" and the bottomless coffee. When my food was ready, they called out the weirdest thing to do in the rain. Though the food was delicious, it was not very hot, coming out at best room temperature. I would have loved it if the meal had been heated up or even just served warm. For this I give them 3 and hope on my next visit the food will be a little warmer than cool.“

“The food was the best! The prime rib and the vegetable were cooked to perfection and the meat was carved with precision. The vegetables were superb & selection was fantastic. The shrimp cocktail is so good, you could be happy with that plus a salad. The desserts were the best!“

“The service was marvelous! The waiter was always on time. The old style brick made me feel cozy. The food was remarkable! Fresh, hot, and tasty to the last bite. The croissant with the magical melted honey butter was amazing! I pushed through a full belly and ate as much as I could of the delicious skillet cookie topped with ice cream.“

“I can’t say enough good things about Southern Palate Catering. We used their services for our wedding in April 2022. Most of the compliments we received from the wedding were about the food! We worked with Denise, the chef and owner of Southern Palate. She always got back to me promptly and was always willing to meet with me face to face anytime I needed during the planning process. My husband and I always dreamed of having Mexican food at our wedding. Denise already had an option on the catering menu for Mexican stations and it was just what we were looking for! They homemake everything, even the tortilla chips (which were amazing), and were able to accommodate my gluten allergy with anything I wanted. Denise made sure all of her employees knew I was gluten free and they served me and my husband the whole night so that we didn’t have to worry about taking the time to get our own food. They even packed us a to go box full of every food item at the wedding so that we were able to eat at our hotel after. They took all the stress off of us on our special day and I can’t thank them enough. I highly recommend using them for any event and I will definitely be using them for any catering needs in the future.“
