I have been coming here for dinner really as far back as I can remember. I’ve had birthdays, graduations, and all kinds of celebrations include plans to eat here because of the outstanding, one of a kind dish this place made. A skillet filled with chicken, cheese, onions and bits of green pepper served with tortillas on the side. I say made, because tonight after all these years they changed their policy to not make things that are off the menu anymore. I ended up ordering my backup dish, the southwest chicken tacos, which thankfully was still on the new menu, but it had been changed too, removing the seasoning on the chicken and the fried onion strips and replacing them with onions and unseasoned chicken. The result was something I could have made myself. My wife’s dish had changed too, and we left the restaurant knowing this would be our last time if this is the new normal. This is a huge bummer because the one thing that made On The Border irreplaceable for me is gone, my backup and my wife’s favorite changed for the worse, and while I don’t run a restaurant, it’s insane to me as a customer because there is no other restaurant I can think of that serves THAT dish so I can’t even go somewhere else for that experience that I am going to miss dearly. All that to say that On The Border should bring back the old menu and reinstate their policy to make off the menu items.

The staff is great and have great customer service but the food wasn't that good the tacos were cold along with my rice and refried beans if they would've cooked it longer without it being cold so much it would've been a good meal. The employees here are nice though so I'll give them that the very least.

We've been fans of Greenville's On the Border since it opened in 1996, and have even spent a lot of special occasions there, but it seems to be on its way out. Dismally empty and depressing at lunchtime on a December Sunday. Waited at our table 15 minutes before a server came to take our order. Food came fairly quickly and was correct. Black beans were good but fajitas were lukewarm - definitely not sizzling like they used to be. Only two tortillas included with Border Smart Chicken Fajitas. Had to ask for napkins (which we never did get), salsa refill, drink refills. Restaurant was cold, women's restroom was flooded. The server was cheerful and tried, but $50 for two (after tip) was too much for such a lackluster meal.

Ordered a fajita bar catered meal for a weekend stay at a nearby hotel. Our package consisted of premium steak, regular steak, chicken and shrimp. The best meats wre the premium steak and shrimp. Our meal was ok and we received a good for the cost paid.

I love ordering food to go from here. It's delicious and so easy to call ahead to order. They bring it out to your car when you arrive, it's usually very fast and the people are always kind. You always receive free chips and salsa to-go too!

Everything was really good, and some nice to go to a Mexican restaurant that actually spices the food. Not hot spicy but tasty spicy.

Tonight we ate here for the first time and I had the queso grilled chicken. It was okay. The rice was a little soggy and the vegetables tasted sweet but frozen. The chips and salsa was very good. The waitress was very kind. There was also about 20 minute wait for our food but it was a little busy. The restaurant is very nice and I feel like there is so much potential in it being a hit but the food just needs something more.
