What a delightful evening! We had an excellent dinner and first-rate service at the bar with Mari and Nicholas, who took such good care of us. The cocktails were simply outstanding — it’s been a long time since we’ve had drinks so thoughtfully prepared. The lamb shank and pork kebab were tender and flavorful, with lovely touches from France, Spain, and Morocco. The cocktail lounge itself has an eclectic dark atmosphere. Those velvet couches make it easy to settle in and stay awhile. It’s wonderful to see such a fine new addition to the North Main community. We’ll certainly be back to see what they come up with next.

We visited this newer restaurant last night-my second time dining here-and while the food was absolutely incredible and our server was wonderful, the experience was unfortunately overshadowed by how we were treated by the general manager.

When we arrived, we told the hostess we had a party of six and a half, meaning a small 5-year-old child who was with us but not eating. Once seated, we simply asked for an extra chair since only six were at the table (and there was plenty of space for more). The woman, who we later learned was the GM, responded with a condescending “How many humans do you have with you?” and acted visibly irritated by our request.

Throughout the meal, she continued to behave unprofessionally-running back and forth between staff, gossiping and pointing in our direction, which made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. It felt more like high school drama than the level of hospitality you’d expect at a restaurant of this caliber.

It’s a real shame, because the food and our waitress were fantastic and truly the only reasons we decided to stay. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because with better leadership and professionalism, this place could be exceptional.

First of all, there is free parking at the restaurant! A plus vs downtown dining. Last night was our first visit but we will definitely be back. The space is really beautiful and this is a much needed addition to Greenville’s dining scene. Each season features the cuisines of 4 Mediterranean countries (Spain, France, Armenia and Morocco currently). The menu is thoughtful and well ordered. We started with the baked Brie which was perfect for two and enjoyed the blistered grapes accompanying it. My friend had two appetizers; the Lentil Stew and the Lahmajoun which we were unfamiliar with but which he described as pure comfort food. I ordered the Armenian entree Pork Lula Kebab. It is a very generous potion and was absolutely delicious! It is ground pork with a number of spices, onions, etc that is rolled and grilled and served with a really excellent yogurt as well as rice and a grilled tomato. When I requested a to-go for the left-overs our excellent server ”Z” made sure I got an excellent dollop of the yogurt. The service was attentive but not obsequious. Chef Danielle introduced herself and talked about her vision. She spent 8 years as Chef de Cuisine at the excellent Jianna and it shows. The wine list is also very thoughtful IMO. We did not have any cocktails. Overall an A+ experience that I highly recommend!

First experience at The Black Sheep and definitely NOT our last! Everything about this restaurant was flawless. Walk into a beautifully decorated restaurant that screams class and elegance. We were quickly greeted by our waiter Will who proved to be amazing in every way from guidance with the menu, attentiveness, and a vibe as if we had known him for years. Then came the food… as beautiful as every plate and drink was that was quickly overshadowed by its amazing taste. If I had to say anything negative it would be the fact that we were able to get a reservation easily which I know will not be the case in a few months when more GVL foodies try this amazing spot.

I’m sure the entire staff is amazing but I can promise that when we make our reservations moving forward we will always request a table in Will’s section.

Until next time Black Sheep… you were amazing.

Food, drinks and service were all spectacular. I have celiac and so much of the menu was already gluten free, they were very well informed on gluten free, and super accommodating. That aside, flavors were spectacular, ambiance was amazing, and service was outstanding- new flatware for every course, a new napkin when you left the table. Nico was our server and he was fantastic.

We came with friends and had a nice dinner. The atmosphere and service were great, but the food lacked flavor and the portions were small. We tried the rice with shellfish and the Mulberry tart. In my opinion, the quality- Price ratio was not met.

My wife and I went to The Black Sheep this past Tuesday night for our anniversary and the whole experience was amazing. The food was fresh and full of flavor, the drinks were creative and really well made, and the atmosphere had the perfect mix of upscale and comfortable. It felt like a special night out but still relaxed enough to just enjoy ourselves.

The service couldn’t have been better. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional, and our server made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. From start to finish, it felt like they really cared about making our evening great.

I would highly recommend The Black Sheep to anyone looking for one of the best dining experiences in downtown Greenville. We’ll definitely be back!
