Beautifully decorated restaurant! Food was delicious from first to last course! Don’t skip dessert! Loved that my elderly husband could comfortably could sit at high top chairs in bar area. Martini glasses are lovely and generous. Great addition to Hilton Head dining experience!!!

We were excited to try Madre, being longtime fans of Jane restaurant and lovers of Latin cuisine. While the restaurant's atmosphere is undeniably beautiful, our experience unfortunately went downhill from there.
The hostess seemed completely disengaged, talking on her phone when we arrived, which created an awkward situation as we thought she was speaking to us. We were also confused about the restaurant's identity - is this meant to be specifically Mexican or Latin cuisine?
While our server was friendly and professional, the timing of everything was problematic. A simple order of guacamole and chips took nearly 30 minutes to arrive.
When our main courses finally came, the food was clearly not served at proper temperature, with noticeable cold spots throughout. Basic maintenance was also lacking - both the men's and women's restrooms had no paper towels available.
Overall, this was a major letdown, especially given our expectations. The restaurant needs serious management oversight to address these issues.
After this disappointing visit, we won't be returning. It's particularly frustrating given our dozens of consistently excellent experiences at Jane over the years. That's where we'll continue to dine.

We've never been a fan of Jane, but wanted to try Madre since we love latin food. The atmosphere is beautiful, but that's where the positives ended. The hostess was not friendly AT ALL. First strike. Our server was great, but everything took so long. He offered to bring us a taste of a wine we were considering and we waited forever for that. The wine glasses were very nice. Took a long time to get two glasses of wine. Ordered two tapas which took almost 30 minutes to come out. Server didn't bring plates for us so we had to ask for them. Then ordered a bottle of wine which took a long time. Then we ordered the enchiladas to share and while the flavor was good, the food wasn't hot at all. Had several cold spots. Ended up asking for a to go box since everything took so long and we didn't want to wait for them to reheat the enchiladas. Ladies room had one stall out of order, one sink had only one faucet working, and there were no paper towels in the bathroom. In general, this was a huge disappointment. We were at the "market" part of the restaurant the other day and the salesperson mentioned that the owner was out of town. I don't know if the owner was still out of town tonight, but regardless, there needs to be some serious oversight of this place. This was a one and done for us. Our two experiences at Jane over the years were big fails, and this was the icing on the cake - we are done trying her restaurants. I feel bad for the two servers that were dealing with everything tonight (bar and all of the tables), since they were running all over trying to handle everyone. The owner needs to get in there and help, if they are going to be short staffed.

While on vacation in Hilton Head, my husband and I decided to try a newer restaurant on the island. We were greeted by a very sweet hostess/waitress. The food was outstanding and prices were right on point. Very fresh, farm to table type ingredients. Highly recommend starting with the ceviche.

Beautiful and ambient atmosphere with amazing tasting food! Highly recommend going here
We got the ceviche and chips and salsa to start. The ceviche was on the sweeter side with a tomato base but both were good
We got the shrimp tacos and steak enchilada for the main. The layers of flavor were amazing and everything was cooked to perfection.
Best Latin food I’ve had in a while and I’m picky!

Absolutely terrific. It’s authentic with huge portions and oh so good. It even looked too good to even take a picture of the food as it needed to be consumed. Highly recommend.

Do not recommend!
Awful food, service and charges. Don't be fooled by the beautiful decor.
Service was terrible, one waitress for the whole restaurant. We waited so long to order, for our drinks, she forget our appetizer and then INCLUDED 20% tip charge when they brought the bill. There was 3 of us. And this was not mentioned anywhere on menu. Never took the menus off the tables, never cleared our plates before bringing the bill. Just terrible all around and then to charge me 20% tip included when you bring the bill.
Food was terrible. The most basic things just put together. Beans were cold. The menu to start is limited. They put the corn tortillas but they do have flour if you ask for it.
Awful and disappointing in every way. Do not recommend at all.

Food was great, especially tacos and the churro dessert. Some Spanish paintings with some color would be a great touch. Highly recommend the food.

We just discovered this fabulous, new-to-us restaurant in the plaza where Fresh Market is located. Opening the door to check it out, we were immediately dazzled by the inviting, bright decor...relaxing, open, and serene...so, decided to have a late lunch.
The menu focuses on tapas, salads, soup, and tacos - with descriptions indicating the preparations are innovative and interesting. We ordered Camarones Ajo (spicy shrimp tapa) and Pescado Tacos (crispy fish) - both outstanding, flavorful dishes that are beautifully presented. This chef knows what he/she is doing, using a perfect blend of well-balanced spices in creative ways. We especially enjoyed the cilantro lime cream sauce, so much so... that we requested more to use on our salads.
Adding to our memorable dining experience was our attentive, knowledgeable server, Jimmy, whose calm disposition and personalized assistance made us feel valued and enhanced our visit to Madre. We will be back soon!
