Best Mexican on the island. The beef enchiladas were fabulous as were the shrimp and fish tacos. Excellent service. I hate that it took me this long to try it.

Our first time there, but it won't be our last the food was terrific. The drink was very good. Our server was a lot of fun and I was happy to put a recommendation on the Hilton head restaurant guide Facebook page.

There were 7 of us at a round table in a corner on 6/30/25; we ordered 2 appetizers-the 'hongo chicharon' (basically fried muchrooms) & flautas de pollo (chicken flautas)- the mushrooms came very late & were cold (waitstaff brought warm ones later), the flautas were greasy w/lots of arugula underneath. 2 persons ordered the smoked chicken fajitas which were served on one plate, not sizzling as expected w/tortillas rolled in a container. Two ordered fish tacos- supposed to be "crispy" but were heavily breaded & fried; another ordered chicken taco, and 2 ordered the ensalada tamarino-one with "grilled shrimp" which was really just sauteed & no shell or tail, and the other w/adobo chicken which tasted like curried chicken. All in all, 2 of us were locals and I'm pretty sure I won't be back.

A a hidden gem on Hilton Head Island. The food is exceptional, the décor is beautiful, and the ambiance strikes just the right balance—elegant without being too formal. While the service was excellent, the real standout is the food. It's easily one of our new favorite spots on the island. If you're expecting typical “American-style” Mexican food, you may want to look elsewhere. But if you're seeking authentic Mexican cuisine infused with touches of traditional Spanish flavors, this is absolutely the place to go.

The food was really good. The atmosphere was good. The only problem is they are completely short staffed. Our waiter was fantastic, but he couldn't do everything himself quick enough so we ordered fajitas but by the time we got the tortillas, we were pretty much done with eating the fajitas we had asked for salsa and the salsa came after we were done with our Food if they had a bus boy or another person hanging around to ask, we would've gotten things sooner, but he was so busy and pretty much by himself trying to handle everything. It was not good so they were completely short staffed.

Love the restaurant. Great vibe. Great food. We will definitely go back whenever we are in Hilton Head.

Food was OK. Generous portions - smoked chicken fajita. Service was good. We were the only couple there for lunch so sound level was very quiet.

This is a wonderful restaurant. Lovely decor, great staff, and delicious food. Locally owned too. Everything is fresh and well presented. One of our favorites.

Food was great. Our party had the nachos (add chicken), beef burrito, shrimp burrito, smoked chicken enchiladas and Caesar ensalate (add shrimp). Ambience/decor - beautiful. Our server was great when he was at our table. However, he was the only server working and seemed to be the bartender as well. At times, I wondered if he was cooking the food as well as there would be long delays between visits to our table. This restaurant is affiliated with Jane's Bistro, which we always go to and enjoy. I think some advertising and better staffing would do wonders for traffic and customer satisfaction at Madre. We really want to come back next year and see it flourishing!

The decor is so beautiful! The cocktails are inventive and well crafted. Presentation of the cuisine is superb.

The food presentations were outstanding and it all was delicious. The drink order needed to be redone to get them correct. Our waiter was great though

We just tried this place last night and it was great! The restaurant is beautiful. Light and bright! We are pretty picky food people and we thought the food was delicious. We had the guacamole and the chicken fajitas which was enough for 2 to split. Everything was fresh and delicious. The pomegranate margarita was yummy! Very excited to have an upscale Mexican restaurant in HH with really good food!

Service was slow to begin, had to find someone to come help after about 10 minutes being sat. however after we got help they were great. Food was amazing. Drinks were yummy! Definitely would go back

Tried a new place and all three of us enjoyed. Very generous tapas choices for sharing. Definitely will be back.

We took out of town friends to Madre tonight for dinner - they had not been there. Everything was wonderful!. We had cervice, mussels and 2 orders of Enchiladas with shrimp. Servings were delicious and the portions generous. Our friends asked to take a menu with them to show their daughter who lives here. Great restaurant.
