Blu Oyster Sushi & Seafood

Honestly, it’s tough to give this kind of review. Whenever I visit a place I always want to give it the benefit of the doubt. However, I must say, I was thoroughly unimpressed here. I ordered the ribeye. It was over cooked (medium well and I ordered medium rare). The serving staff was very kind but made us all feel that we were a bother to ask for anything. My mother has just had heart surgery and can only drink certain items due to her heart failure and the waiter made us all feel awkward after her ordering just ice (we brought her an electrolyte drink).

We ordered a good breadth of items from their menu. The appetizer consisted of their oyster deviled eggs which were reasonably good. They fried them well and they use excellent batter for their fried dishes. It was very good.

The other item we ordered for an appetizer were their oysters, raw. This is a raw bar after all. I have to admit, they were both tasty and a let down at the same time. Normally when a restaurant with a $50 a person buy in (based on average cost) carries raw oysters, they have a selection. I get to choose where they are from… however, here, we are subjected to their supplier….. that being said, they were not bad. However I couldn’t say they were good. They were mediocre at best for over $30 a dozen. Small, with a two or three large ones. They had a lot of brine flavor (which Is good) but they also tasted muddy. Your oysters shouldn't taste muddy. I don’t know. It was just unimpressive.

Overall I was really unimpressed with this location that seem to prioritize sushi and alcohol and leave the tables who just want a good dinner on the back burner. It’s loud, the service is… there… and the food is good but not worth the cost.

First time dining here, and we loved it! Our server was kind and attentive, and offered recommendations to guide us thru the menu.

We started with the calamari. Lightly fried tender strips topped with a creamy corn sauce. There were fried pieces of jalapeño which was a nice touch. My husband had the Blu Bucatini, a great combination of fresh seafood with a delicious creamy lobster sauce. The only thing that would have made this better would have been some baguette slices, as there was a lot of sauce still in the bowl once he ate everything and what a waste to throw it out. I had the scallop fuoco, a hearty meal with Spanish risotto, fresh scallops, bacon jam and tons of flavor.

Even though we were full, we shared a dessert - poached pear with a strawberry sauce and brie whipped cream. The dish came with two halves of a pear, and we were delighted when we took our first bites! There was a bit of a crumble in the strawberry sauce, which I could have eaten like soup, and we loved how the flavors came together. That brie whipped cream was perfect with it. Great combination and recipe.

We loved everything and look forward to dining here again... next time on the patio or at the bar.

Amazing place, food, and service! The lobster roll is to die for! Oysters and sushi are delicious as well! Happy hour deals are great! We had Rob as our waiter and he was so lovely! He took great care of us! Recommended amazing food and ensured we got the best of our experience! If I lived in the area, I would be sure to visit this place weekly! Especially if we got Rob! Great place!

We came here for happy hour, Rob was our server. We had some sushi, appetizers and drinks everything was delish. Rob recommended the banana cheesecake and it was very good. We also had a dog and they were super accommodating. Will definitely be back in the future. Favorite dishes included: calamari, banana cheesecake, the wings, and mussels. Service was fantastic Rob was attentive without being intrusive, overall great dining experience.

The decor is fun, love the sharp toothed skull matrices backlit with neon blue. The lavender blackberry mocktail was very refreshing and had that nice blackberry dryness followed by the floral lavender. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs so we got the curry mussel appetizer, a specialty salmon roll. My husband got the Lobster roll and I got the seafood bucatini. All were so good! Curry mussels had a well rounded flavor, juices sweet and rich. The sushi had generous chunks of salmon. The lobster roll was thick and generously meaty. The seafood in my bucatini was excellent though I thought the noodles themselves were on the thicker/chewy texture, for those who like softer noodles. (But for those hardcore al dente folks, I'm sure you'll love it)

Service was friendly, the tables are small so they moved another table to us because we are shameless gluttons and ordered a ton of food.

Had a great brunch experience. We were surprised by the large portions on breakfast food ( not sure what they put in scrambled eggs but OMG yum)
Our server Veronica knew all the menu favorites and we will most certainly return to try all of them ! We also appreciated how sensitive she was about a dairy allergy.

Adelin was great. Flies on the food. Average cal roll. Average fried fish. Crusted grouper had too much esparil too flowery. Sitting on a bed of soupy risotto with too many peas. Not good. Will not return

This place was very nice and the environment wasn’t too loud. The food was DELICIOUS and I enjoyed every bite of the Tiger Lily Roll. I would definitely recommend that dish to everyone. Everything was sanitized and clean. I had a very good time here and I would definitely visit again! ❤️

I’m sorry to say this was the worst service for a place we have loved in the past. We waited an hour for appetizers and almost left before dinner. Sorry to say but only go if you have 3 hours to eat. So sad!!

This was the worst dinner we have had probably ever! First, the establishment was dirty with lots of flies landing everywhere including where food was being prepared. The peel and eat shrimp was overcooked and the sushi sat on the counter for a few minutes before being delivered to our table. Overall, it was the must disgusting experience we have ever had.

What a wonderful dinner. Calamari is amazing. Whole fish and banana pudding cheesecake is a must. Our server was Rob and he was brilliant. When we left he shook our hands and walked us out including opening the door for us. Just an extra touch that is often overlooked. Will be back

I cannot say enough about this place. If you are Gluten Free you must go, if you like seafood you must go. We had a party of 16 and they accommodated us without hesitation. Some of the best seafood I have ever eaten. No one in our group had a bad thing to say about the food, beverages or service. Love our waitress, she was phenomenal, friendly and took care of us. Fresh, Fresh Fresh food, so flavorful and HUGE Portions. We tried 5 different Sushi Rolls,Calamari, Lobster Poutine, Raw Oysters, Mussels, She Crab Soup, and that was just for apps!! The scallops melt in the mouth, The fried shrimp where light and flavorful, the Cioppino was to die for. Dedicated fryers! This is a must go for any seafood lover or anyone Gluten Free. My wife was ecstatic. Dare I say the Blu Oyster is OFF THE HOOK!! Thanks Chef

Adeline & Rob did an excellent job managing my entire family and extended family this evening . We brought in kids, teens, parents and grandparents- and everyone found something they enjoyed. The servers were friendly & kind. Highly recommend. We’ll be back!
