I came here twice while on vacation. Had an excellent time both times. The staff was very friendly and easy to talk to. The wine was delicious. The whole experience was really fun - it was really cool being able to try as many types of wine as I wanted. The food was also very good. Great atmosphere all around.

FortyEight - Wine Bar & Kitchen at Freshfields Village on Kiawah Island is a great place to go for delicious food and drinks in a cool and relaxed atmosphere. I really like the space and everything that they have available here. I have really enjoyed each visit here.

48 Wine Bar adds a twist to the tradional restaurant. Sidle up to any of the displayed 48 bottles of wine and fill your glass with a 1oz taste, 3oz or 6 oz pour. The shrimp and grits for restaurant week were savory and just right!

Half the place was empty and plenty of seats at the bar and outside, the gal told us sorry we are completely booked. We just wanted a glass of wine or two then she said due to Covid we needed to leave let me add she nor anyone else on staff were wearing masks ! Pretty sure we could have sat somewhere. I’m sure the owner would have suggested she offered us to buy a bottle of wine and the men wanted to buy cigars. Lost some cash tonight. Poor service.

Great experience. We did the wine from the machines which allowed easy tastings and zeroing in on favorites. Worthy experience and good food too.

there was not dinning without reservations, cook the food thoroughly, and have more affordable red wine variety.

We love FortyEight! The menu isn’t overly huge but there’s something for everyone and it’s always delicious. The cheese board selections are so yummy. My favorite is the bucatini pasta with shrimp, while my husband goes for one of their many steak entree options. We always make sure to check it out while we are in town!

I went for a conference sponsored talk and the meal selection provided and service was excellent. Love the concept of this wine bar and the outdoor patio. Hoping to return next time I come to Kiawah.

Great spot with a solid selection of wine, cocktails, and quick bites. Easy place to sit outside and enjoy for a couple hours.

Several years ago, my husband, local friend and I discovered this place! We had an awesome experience! One year ago, my daughter and I visited and even though they didn’t still have our favorite wine on tap, we poured a glass and sat outside and enjoyed a glass of wine- hesitantly, because of the pandemic . Today, officially ended any further dealings with this establishment- I, my daughter, granddaughter and a very pregnant friend of my daughter’s were met with such rudeness and condescension, that I wouldn’t return if paid to return! My daughter, wearing a mask (a requirement in NC) went inside to request an outdoor table. We were told there was no service outside even though on the night before, the tables outside were all occupied. We asked if we might just get our wine and food and sit outside ( baby granddaughter is unvaccinated and a pregnant friend) . Some woman working there said “Well, if you do then others will see and want to, but I guess so”! I went inside to see which wines were on tap and she approached me and told me I must buy a card- I have been there before/ I know that! I said I wanted to see what was on tap before I bought a card and asked if they also served mixed drinks- I had not noticed that before when I had been! She -very rudely- reminded me that they really didn’t want to open up tables outside! I left- never to return! I don’t care if it’s,SC, NC, VT, CA or ME, if you have outdoor tables and there is a pandemic I place, you should offer them to people who would prefer outdoor seating! She was rude and quite frankly, I think she was prejudiced against our wearing a mask and wanting to sit outside! You won’t be seeing us again and our friends who live at Bohicket and on Seabrook will most likely follow suit!

Had the New York strip. The steak was cook to perfection, but unfortunately it had absolutely no taste. I advised the server, and she was very nice. She offered to do something, but I only her to have the chef taste for future reference. I don’t if action was taken, but it was the worst steak I’ve ever had. Absolutely no taste, not even salt which is essential for cooking a steak.
