My wife and I eat here regularly. It is some of the best Mexican food around. We love the fact that you can add anything to your dish. You can go wrong with anything on the menu. Now for the staff. They are amazing. They always check in with you and friendly no matter who you are. So if you want a good family spot with great food, and service you got to come here and try them out.

We went here for food a few hours ago, dont get me wrong, I enjoyed my plate. Sadly my wife had several issues due to the lack of the menu having very little description on the food. She wound up having to send it back twice before finally getting what she wanted. The 3rd time, the refried beans looked really liquidity. At one point I got an overwhelming smell of bleach while eating. The server did try her best to fix the issues and I give her all credit for that. The only reason it isnt at least 4 stars is just the quality of the food isnt quite there yet. The experience itself was kind of embarrassing due to the lack of the description on the menu.

I met a friend here for lunch. The service was great and the people were friendly. The food was under-seasoned and bland. I know, as a retired chef, I am somewhat of a food snob. Mexican cuisine should be bold in flavor. That said, it is much better than the other Mexican restaurant in White Knoll and most of the other Mexican restaurants I have eaten at in the Columbia area.

UPDATE:: ABOUT 2 HOURS AFTER EATING I GOT SO SICK WITH FOOD POISONING..
Probably the worst torta I've ever had. The bread tasted old/stale the steak was super thin and as tender and tasty as a old rubber tire. One slice of Avocado for the whole sandwich. More onions then anything else. Super dry. They also just cut the top bun and nothing else not the meat nothing lazy at is best. There was nothing positive about this plus it cost 15$ no sides. 3rd time eating here 3 different dishes and each one is more worse the the last.. place is over priced for the mediocre food that is served.. no quality or care goes into their dishes..

Updated Review from 2024
While we prefer the St. Andrew's location, we do stop in from time to time and uts been great over the past couple of years. Pics are recent from 2024!
Previously from 2018
We've been loyal customers for years until recently. This year they went up tremendously on their prices across the menu. They also have started failing with customer service. We recently had an issue where a cheese dip to go was turned over and spilled everywhere because the lid wasn't the right fit to the container. They refused to replace it even though it wasn't our fault. It was just an odd situation to be in, considering how much things have changed this year even with the same owner. Sad to say goodbye after raising our children there, but I'd rather spend my money where it's appreciated.

Chapala is located in a strip of shops and restaurants. Popped in for a quick lunch. Sat in the cantina section. Cold cervesa in bottles and on tap. They have a limited tequila selection, but enough from which to choose. Repasado, Silver, and Blanco tequilas are all available. Ordered a combination plate -- chicken enchilada, beef tostada, and beef taco. All items were hot and flavorful. Timely service. Typical Mexican decor.
