We had a Rita’s Italian Ice back in Pennsylvania when I was growing up, but we don’t have one in North Carolina—so it was a great surprise to see one while on vacation down here. As soon as I saw the sign, I knew we had to stop.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean everything was. The floors were spotless, the counters were wiped down, and the place smelled fresh. It really made me feel like they care about keeping the store nice for their customers.

The store is kept very clean, with spotless floors and wiped-down counters. Staff members are friendly and patient, often offering samples to help choose flavors. Customers can enjoy favorites like Italian Ice and custard, with some enjoying the unbelievable texture of the ice and very creamy custard. The ice cream and Italian ice are great, and the line moved quickly even when busy. The strawberry ice had real strawberrys, and the Sunday and key lime ice cream were also enjoyed. All the servings are large! The colorful posters offer lots of ideas to choose from. The friendly ladies who greeted visitors made them feel very welcome. A large cherry gelati with vanilla custard was an absolute delight, with delightful cherry pieces. Rita's is a favorite dessert chain place, the only place to get Gelato, with so many flavors of Italian ice that is so soft. You can sample one if you aren't sure. The Swedish fish is a favorite. The custard is perfection.
