Let's start with the obvious and slide to the sublime... The taste was authentic soul food! Well prepared and delicious. The inside seating is clean and adequate but somewhat dated and simple. Right outside the entrance, there is a Taishan Stone Guardian (IYDK, please Google) which welcomes you and sets the mood. Once inside, you not only sense that this is a family-owned and family-run restaurant, but they also really make guests feel like a part of the family! How rare in today's world. Pro tip: make sure and get the gravy on either the red rice or hoppin' John- you'll thank me later! Matter of fact, gimme them thumbs up now, if you agree! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Ordered through to-good-to-go so we are supposed to get some of what's left over at closing . Instead they went to the back and got some rice and beans one out of the 2 plates we paid for came with corn bread why only one ? Neither plate had any meat on it. So they lost out on using the app to promote their food.

We had an awesome experience. Food was amazing! We had oxtails, smothered pork chop, okra/tomatoes, red rice, collards, green beans, and cabbage. It was all fantastic! And they were very friendly. Big portions too! Wish we had some better soul food like this in Savannah!! We also happened to be there for some 90s R&B music jamming so that was a plus too!

For BIPOC owned place & the pics they have online, we thought this place was gonna slap. It's one of those local places that the locals absolutely love & it comes highly recommended by them (because they don't know any better). Granted we went about an hour or 45min before close, so some of the food was kind of cold (it's served cafeteria style in the warming dishes that sit on top of water). I like my veggies a bit on the fresher side (al dente), so you might like it, but the cabbage was destroyed to me. It was cooked down so much that it was just mush, not a fan. The majority of the food was underseasoned, we were all surprised. The greens & the green beans were tasty but too much meat juice, which made meat grease & made every thing taste that way. We can say we did it for the culture but we won't be going back. Lovely people though.
Service is slow

I'm not from this area. In town for a convention thought I did my research on this restaurant. I was surprised with the food. I had the fried chicken meal with Mac & cheese, yams, cabbage & banana pudding. None of it was good. If in the area again this wouldn't be my go-to place. Very disappointed!!!!!!

Oxtails were delicious and the portions were huge! Fish and chicken are also delicious. Mac and cheese tasted like somebody's mother made it. Tea with lemonade is perfect! We'll definitely visit again when in Charleston.
This was our last stop before the airport 🛫 on our way back to CT. Wow, is all I can say. The food was made with love, flavor and full of soul. Didn't even think about or look at airport good. Satisfied and satiated. Thanks for a fantastic real meal.
Love the friendly service and down home southern comfort food. I eat here every time I'm anywhere close to the area.
PS cornbread is fantastic
Great place to go and have some good food!
I came from Jacksonville FL looking for some good Soul food. They stayed open for us which was great. The customer service was wonderful and the place was clean. But the food was disgusting. The oxtails wasn’t sautéed or seasoned. The yams was hard and wasn’t as sweet. The Mac and cheese was dry and didn’t have a lick of taste. The best thing on the plate was the rice. I’m not trying to be funny but maybe this comment will bring some attention to the workers and they get better cooks. I spent $29 for nothing! I’m very upset and I will not be back.
