I love that this is a family - owned and operated - restaurant. Pictures of the family are all over and you actually see them in the kitchen and working hard!
This place was packed - both from people eating inside and with people taking food to go. I came here for the first time last year while traveling in June and got the seafood rice and some sweet potato pie.
Everything was made fresh to order so I sat and waited and people-watched. There is always lots of movement and it is a little tight from so many people coming and going. There is even a beautiful mural outside of the building. Lots of PURPLE inside!
The staff was helpful and kind even though you could tell it was non-stop for them.
They gave LOTS of rice - it was packed and was really good. The pie was perfect - just like homemade food.
I wish them the best and pray they continue to prosper!!

I was insistent on finding Gullah food while in Charleston. After some google searches, i found this place. We got the crabcake and whiting fish and sock it to me cake. It was all delicious!

I had the baked chicken plate with rice, cabbage; and macaroni and cheese. The rice and cabbage were amazing. The rest off the food was absolutely disappointing. The bake chicken was dry as the desert, and the macaroni and cheese was just water and noodles no cheese whatsoever. I called back to let them know, and spoke with management. He said I apologize, when the line calms down I'll pull your ticket and give you a call back. I'm still waiting for a call from Sunday mid morning. Totally waste of money, and bad customer service. Definitely won't return.

We found this place on google. After reading some reviews we decided to give it a try. Iโm so glad we did. The food was amazing! The portion size was huge. The employees were all friendly and helpful. If you are looking for some good homemade southern food this is the place!

Let me just say that before my husband and I left, I was referring to the owner as โMamaโ๐ We came on a Sunday and were the only ones eating on the inside. There was a line for takeout though. My husband had to wait for his pork chop to be fried, but it was worth the short wait. We were given two small pieces of cornbread, when my husband exclaimed that wouldnโt be enough for both of us, they laughed and gave us two more pieces. ๐ We loved everything about this place and plan to make another visit before leaving for home. ๐

This was some of the best soul food I've ever had! Everything was delicious and full of flavor. Each person in my party got something different but everyone was satisfied. Not only that, but for the amount of food we got, the price was incredible. The service was friendly and polite. The next time I'm in town, I'm taking anybody and everybody I can here!

That food was delicious. Iโve eaten at a lot of soul food restaurants since Iโm from here, and theyโre all pretty similar. Not here, this is elevated soul food! Great job!

soul food restaurants don't grow on trees anymore. I love stopping in here usually about once a week when I can as I live right down the road. when I grew up in Beaufort South Carolina, my favorite restaurant in town was a little soul food spot called Sergeant White's diner. I loved that place, and I get that same feel good feeling at my three sons. True southern comfort food and great people. Do not sleep on this spot.

The food was delicious. They had rutabagas. Not a whole lot of places have that and they were awesome. Will definitely be going back some good comfort food
