Great stay, very hospitable staff. I accidentally sent a DoorDash to a neighboring Townplace Suites and they went over and picked it up for me and brought it to the correct hotel.

I love Marriott, been staying with them for years. You have to do something about the showers. It seems like it’s the same design at many of the remodeled Townplace Suites I stay at. I understand you’re probably going for some kind of “modern look” by having no shower door but it didn’t work. Maybe if you had bigger showers but immediately after turning the shower on it starts pooling on the bathroom floor. Not a little splash over but an entire puddle that covers a quarter of the bathroom. Keep in mind this is after me trying to aim the shower head as low as possible to avoid this. It takes me completely soaking an entire other towel every shower to soak it up.On the good side this forces you to rush through your shower due to the stress of watching your bathroom flood. This is an added bonus since the fact there is no door causes you to freeze your behind off as cold air flows in from the rest of the room. Finally, the good news. I have a solution, well two actually. One, the right solution, which would be to do the obvious and retrofit a sliding glass door that would solve both these problems. The only problem is this would probably cost about a grand per room, so I’m guessing it just ain’t gonna happen. The other solution would probably cost you about $100 per room and would cause no downtime.. If you simply installed a handheld showerhead. That could be pointed straight down and completely eliminate at least the flooding issue. While not freezing my rear off is a nice luxury I realize it’s not as absurd as the bathroom flooding every time you take a shower.Ok, now that we’ve said all that, what will really happen? Nothing. Why? Because Marriott is a huge company. It makes decisions like these, that are the most obvious and common sensible in the world, almost impossible. It’s problems like these that are both too small and too big for decisions to be made. I don’t blame at all the management that runs this specific location. I am sure they played no part in what types of showers were installed when they were remodeled. Even though they are now the ones that have to deal with the aftermath. if they went out on their own and just decided to fix the problem and spend $100K to update all the showers they’d probably be fired in a week. All in all, I love Marriott. Please fix the showers.

Pros: LocationCons: Everything elseBooked a king studio and they "upgraded" me aka charged me for a King Suite then acted like I was supposed to be happy about the extra charge of $30 but I looked over that until we went to the room. Carpet ripped in the living room, ceiling badly plastered over the kitchen, ottoman in the living room had two loose legs (we hand tightened), bathroom shower head leaking and most of that we can live with but the baby roaches in the room was a no go(mind you whoever stayed there before knew about them as there were some smooshed on the wall). We only stayed one night and that was one night too many but while there we went to eat at a local restaurant and had leftovers we were going to eat for lunch the following day. We told the receptionist about all the issues and even showed pictures but they brushed it off. We let them know we would be coming back to grab our food and then check out, the cleaning service threw out our food and they at least comped us $40 because of that. All in all DO NOT STAY HERE!Nearby activities: There is a great hibachi place nearby.

Making An Old Vietnam Veteran Feel Welcome HomeThe TownePlace Suites was actually an overflow hotel, for members of our Vietnam Security Police Assn. And I am glad I was able to obtain the last room. From my arrival, to my departure, the staff were the most hospitable and welcoming people I have met in a very long time. Starting with Ben, the shuttle driver who picked me up at the airport late afternoon. He additionally transported me to our primary reunion site when I requested such. Then in an emergency funds problem he transported me to a credit union and back. There was Benny, another driver, who worked days on the weekend. He also went out of his way when I needed transportation. Lastly, there is Ashley, who was working second shift. She is very personable. Someone you all will enjoy meeting. She greeted me and assigned me my room. She explained everything to me regarding the billing process as my credit union notified me something was wrong. That was quickly remedied with her help and Ben's transportation. I spoke to her every chance I could when I saw her. Even when she worked days on the weekend. She answered all of my simple questions and would also take the time just to have a conversation. Personally, if I could, I would have given all those folks a platinum star if it was possible. Thank you all!!!Rooms: What can I say about my room? It was so much more than I was expecting. I felt as if I was home with the ability to cook my own meals if I desired. Just check out the photos.Nearby activities: The North Charleston Fire Museum was also nearby. A great visit. So many nearby restaurants and eateries. My favorite being Thai Palms. They actually cooked our meals Native Thai Style.Walkability: With our association holding daily meetings and hospitality gatherings at a nearby hotel. It was so easy to walk there when I chose to. The Tangier Outlet Mall (Shopping Center) was two blocks away. There were various other centers nearby.
