Best meal while on vacation. The black dog grill was well worth drive in from Hilton Head. The experience was amazing! The friendliness of the staff made me feel very special, especially when chef Frank greeted us and the end of our meal. The food was delicious and hot, from the appetizer to the main course everything was very tasty. Definitely worth the money. I highly recommend the black dog grill, can't wait for my next visit. Thank-you chef Frank for a wonderful experience at your restaurant.
Kid-friendliness: The stsff was very friendly nd accommodating from our reservation to waiting on us. The chef came to our table to ask how the meal is and he is very nice.
Parking: Lots of parking at the side of the restaurant.

This USE to be my favorite place in town, but my recent experience was disappointing. I had the chicken marsala and my wife had a tenderloin. My Marsala was Olive Garden quality and my wife's steak was overcooked. I always loved my meals here, so I followed up with the restaurant and was told the chef had left recently. The new 'chef" was his assistant and is simply very average at best. Nice people, good service, but the qualitity of the food was subpar. My tab was over $100.00 and should have been half of that. Oh well, need to find a new place.

We enjoyed a very nice Valentine Dinner at the Black Dog Grill this evening. We really enjoy this small, intimate restaurant which has a small but very good menu and a couple of specials each night. The swordfish was excellent and a very generous portion! Served over a creamy parmesan orzo and a side of haricot verts cooked perfectly al dente. The French Onion soup was delicious as always and enough for two to split. We really enjoyed engaging with our server, Lesley who I believe is one of the owners. Highly recommend the Black Dog Grill if you’re in the area although we drive from Bluffton we like it so well!

We have been to the Black Dog Grill several times in the past, all very nice. Went yesterday for a post-Valentine's day celebration; won't be going again. The prices have skyrocketed :$20 for the oyster appetizer and worse was the $52 ribeye steak which wasn't even close to good.... I can cook a steak better than what I got yesterday at one third the cost. I'll admit the service was good but we won't return... too bad.

The service is an attempt at high-class. EXPENSIVR! The side portions were modest. The steak was poorly grilled. Ordered it medium came medium well. Excessively done on one side. The slight pink was significantly off-center. Could have done as well or better at a cheap steakhouse.

We had an outstanding dinner of so many dishes from swordfish to scallops to steaks and each was perfect. Service was so friendly and efficient and we can’t wait to go back! Even with 9 of us- timely, scrumptious and such fun!

Excellent hidden gem in Port Royal. A must if in the Beaufort SC area. I highly recommend making reservations as this gem only has 10 tables inside. The food was fabulous, service could not be any better. A very well run establishment with only 3 people running it. Next time we will order the steak it looked delicious.

We wanted a special place to celebrate our son graduating from boot camp and we couldn't have chosen a more special place. He was treated like he was special from the moment we walked in, and we loved all the food, the wine, and the atmosphere. His twin brother graduates in January, and we'll bring him there too. I can't wait to go back!
I was uncertain about going in because at night it looks sketchy. But, the inside is very nice, romantic, pleasant staff, and fast. The food was perfect!! Best steak I've eaten in years. The chef was awesome!!

Can't say enough good things about the service and food quality at the Black Dog Grill in Beaufort, SC. While entertaining on a business trip I called ahead for a reservation and spoke with Leslie who assured a table would be ready and asked what kind of beer we were drinking so she could assure she had it in stock and it was ice cold upon our arrival. This quaint little bistro was amazing. Our server, Ashley, was outstanding and the food was incredible. Highly recommend the fillet and lamb chops. The sides were fresh and plentiful and the coconut cake was a splendid ending to a delightfull meal. Thank you Leslie and Ashley for a great evening and dinner. See you again for sure.
