Advised by a local to check out "Maddies" when visiting the area. The food is amazing! The best she-crab soup ever! Top-notch shrimp-n-grits and pimento cheese (Tillamook brand cheese!). Don't miss eating here if you are in the area visiting the nearby Cypress walkway with the bird sanctuary.

My Celiac wife ate a burger and fries with no issues. Very food allergen educated staff made us all feel confident. I had great shrimp, flounder, cocktails and dessert. Fabulous selection, comfortable ambience, and fair prices. We look forward to returning.Thank you, Madisons!

Waitress was friendly. Nice quaint old building. That is the only good part of our visit. Long wait for horrible food. Fries and fish were so full of grease I could have changed the oil in my car with it.

I've enjoyed every visit over many years, but especially today's for the soft shell crab and she crab soup. Great food, cool rustic feel, and friendly service.

We are so disappointed, this use to be one of our favorites. Ordered three of the filet specials at $34.00 each. Had to send one back because it was suppose to be medium and it came well done. We never got the steak back. Our bill was $155.00, the food and service did not warrant that.

We had a family occasion to visit Madison's a few weeks ago with a party of six. We had reservations and the meal had been planned for a while. When the food arrived, we (most of us) were astonished at the small size of a combination platter. I personally had scallops and flounder. I had two TINY strips of flounder, not even the size of a frozen fish stick. What a disappointment. The scallops were also 'marble' size. The price of the meal, with an adult beverage, was over 70.00. The cost nowhere represented what the meal should have been. One of our couples asked if the combination platter was enough to split. The server's answer was "they could eat one of them by themselves." This should have been our warning. Very disappointed in the meal. I have had appetizers larger the two tiny slices of flounder. We return to Beaufort on occasions, as family lives there, but we will NOT return to Madison's.

We went here for my birthday dinner. I started with the she crab soup. It was delicious. I had the special, Steak a la Oscar. It was so good! Our server was excellent, as well. Very nice.

We were a party of four from out of town. At this point we had visited other restaurants in the Buford area and were greeted by cheerful people. At this restaurant we waited to be greeted as the receptionist was on the telephone. The greeting was cold. The same person was our waitress and she was short in answering our questions. The food was served sloppily. The food was great, burger, soup and salad, but parts of our order were missing. We will not be returning on our next visit to Buford.

Wonderful place to grab some good food and enjoy the quaint yet cool town of Port Royal. I love these little places where a historic house is transformed into a restaurant. At Madison's you get an at home vibe with a little sparkle of sophistication. Oh yeah let's talk about the most important part..food! We all ordered different dishes and shared two appetizers on the menu without any disappointment in taste or portions. We came for lunch and were immediately greeted by the friendly smiles of their staff. I had the house burger-it's topped with a layer of sweet and smokey bacon jam then a big scoop of gooey pimento cheese. The burger was seasoned nicely where you could still taste the beef yet the flavors were elevated to match the showstopping toppers. I usually focus more on the main dish, but OMG the hand cut fries are aaaammazing! I had to cover my plate to prevent myself from devouring every single one of those bad boys. I have had a ton of hand cut fries and I believe these are one of the best, if not The Best fries I have ever had. Do not leave without ordering the fries-super crispy yet not overcooked or greasy. We were kinda hungry so I forgot to take pics of the appetizers, but they were great. We shared the crispy yet tender calamari and the various deviled eggs topped with different ingredients like shrimp, pimento cheese, etc. My hubby ordered the seafood basket with fried flounder and oysters. The seafood was cooked perfectly! Light, crispy batter that doesn't fall off when you take your first bite or when you dip it in tartar sauce. Everyone at our table loved their food-Shrimp and grits, Seared tuna salad, Mahi Mahi sandwich, and a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Don't leave town until you have tried this place.

I recently had the displeasure of dining at Madisons, and I must say it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming and dull. The decor seemed outdated, and the overall ambiance lacked the warmth one would expect from a dining establishment. The service was abysmal, to say the least. The waitstaff appeared disinterested and inattentive, taking an eternity to acknowledge our presence and even longer to bring menus. When we finally managed to place our order, the food took an unreasonably long time to arrive, and it was clear that the kitchen was not operating efficiently.Speaking of the food, it was the main source of my dissatisfaction. The menu boasted a variety of dishes, but the execution fell short of expectations. The dishes lacked flavor, and the ingredients seemed uninspired. It felt as if the kitchen was cutting corners, resulting in a mediocre and forgettable culinary experience. One of the most egregious aspects was the state of cleanliness. The tables were sticky, and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired. It was clear that attention to hygiene was not a priority, and this significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. To add insult to injury, the pricing did not align with the quality of the food and service. The exorbitant prices for subpar dishes only intensified the disappointment. I couldn't help but feel that I was being taken advantage of as a customer. In conclusion, Madisons was an unfortunate choice for dining. The lackluster atmosphere, poor service, mediocre food, cleanliness issues, and overpriced menu collectively contributed to making it the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I would strongly advise against anyone wasting their time and money at this establishment.

My experience was quite average. Walking into the restaurant for a reservation at 7 pm… Waited about 5 minutes to be taken to our table and then about 5 minutes later we were finally asked for our drinks and appetizers. The food was bland and the burger was soggy and my son was unable to eat it. While ordering, we heard they had recently downgraded there menu. We also heard a waiter assisting the other table with the daily specials, we did not receive. They were somehow out of oysters early on a saturday. I do not recommend attending as my experience was purely awful. And the parking was awful too.
